As someone who’s been to more funerals than I’d like to, he looks like he’s laid out for a funeral. From my interpretation of it, he committed suicide by jumping off of that tall building to rejoin his friends that he lost prior.

Though my interpretation of his tear is split. Some beliefs say that if you take your own life, you will not go to the final resting place (i.e. Heaven). The fact that they flew away from him as he was falling, is it symbolic of that? Is he crying because he made a mistake? Or is he crying because what he saw was just a glimpse of his friends and now he’s actually going to fly with them again?
