Also. I feel like Father’s Day is one of the few holidays Jessica is genuinely, ungrudgingly willing to celebrate once Dani comes along.

She thought she had been chasing a lead, something, any kind of answer to the problem she was seeking to end. Instead she finds herself nearly running into the hero for hire. Face scrunching in frustration, she knows know it had been another false lead. ❝ You aren't who I was looking for. ❞ The statement is devoid of any sign of disappointment. It simply was.

It didn't matter if Cage believed it or not; this was something he knew to be true. If this was the way the world was going to be it had no place in it for him or for Captain America. How could it when the government had turned into one of the bullies he'd spent his life fighting? How could it when the country he'd sworn to fight for was now locking up those heroes who didn't sign that damn registration act? Captain America stood for more than this and Steve wasn't going to look for his place if this was how the world would be going forward.
He would, however, keep fighting for those who wanted to find their place. Even though they were currently using a basement as their headquarters, he would continue to fight against Stark and the government. A part of him still couldn't believe they'd fallen on opposite sides of the argument. Many of those he'd called friend were now fighting against him and he never thought it would happen that way. Steve couldn't think about that, though. Not when there were rumours swirling about where they were taking those they'd arrested for not signing the registration act. If it was true they needed to free their friends and put an end to this madness once and for all.
"I know you will," was all he could say, words not really coming to him. He was grateful the man was willing to fight along side of him in this fight. They all had their reasons but not all of them had a family like Cage did. Maybe he should've pushed him to join his family instead of fighting with him. "And I hope your daughter never has to see a world like this and wonder why no one did anything. It's too late for a lot of these kids but not for your daughter."
One way or another, he would put an end to this. Even though he never expected this day to come, Steve would do whatever he could to give all of these heroes a chance to live the lives they wanted to. He would even give up his own life if it meant that they would destroy the very thing that had turned the world into what they were currently fighting against. "I don't think there is a place for Captain America in this world. Even if we change it I'm not sure it's a place where I can keep doing what I've been doing in the past."
Once they changed the world he would once again need to find his place in it. Maybe it would be as Captain America or maybe it would be as something different. It wasn't going to stop him from fighting for that change. Steve just wasn't going to imagine a place for him in it until he was certain the change would stick.

the young woman beamed from almost ear to ear, carrying the toddler in her arms as she knocked on the door. this was something she honestly wanted to do since talking about super babies with patsy almost a year ago. the suggestion of dani and shogo getting to meet each other so they’d know having super parents wasn’t weird at all seemed like a great idea. now it was just a matter of seeing if they’d get along. the age difference was a little worrying, but all parents worried about those things. ❝ hey luke, you in there? ❞

use the shield, child. Consider it like insurance.
YOU don’t use a shield and you’re doing just fine
