having lots of caitbessa thoughts. the age gap is so surreal. experienced ambessa corrupting and defiling the young kiramman heir. calling cait a “child” and “little one” in front of others to maintain a facade. and in the bedroom looming over her and mocking her as cait struggles to take her, “look at yourself. you can barely take two of my fingers and you think you’re worthy of being a commander? don’t make me laugh, child” or something like that

And after hours of going she tells Cait to finish in this same exact tone😵‍💫

i think the reason caitbessa hits so well for me is because ambessa is sitting at an interesting intersection between being both a motherly figure and also being nothing like caitlyn's actual mother. ambessa and cassandra are different from their disposition, their goals, right down to their visual appearance.

but ambessa is still a nurturing woman who understands how to dangle her approval over caitlyn's head, because she recognizes that maternal approval is something caitlyn is desperate for and can't necessarily have in the way she actually wants it. but she can vey for ambessa's attention and approval and when she praises her as she would a daughter it feels pretty close.

in the same breathe, ambessa is not her mother obviously, but she's an older, more experienced woman. and while she's certainly not someone her family would approve of her seeing in a romantic or sexual connotation the way they may have maddie, for obvious reasons, it doesn't really matter when she can fill both the hole her mother left and the vacuum vi created in one foul swoop.

ambessa, who's shown interest in younger people (see Local Cuisine), is calculated and perceptive. she clearly knows caitlyn is craving the approval of an older woman, a role she can easily fill and she cites how it was easier to manipulate caitlyn to her whim while she was in her feelings about violet and distracting herself with maddie and the ideals of her mother.
