Nick orders new animated show "The Loud House"; announces finalists of 2014 Animated Shorts Program

Nickelodeon has announced that they have placed a 13-episode order of a brand-new animated series (NickToon) called The Loud House, the first series to be greenlit out of its 2013 Animated Shorts Program! Inspired by first-time creator Chris Savino's (Rocko's Modern Life, The Powerpuff Girls) chaotic life growing up in a huge household, the series will follow 11-year-old Lincoln as he gives an inside look at what it takes to survive in the bedlam of a large family, especially as the only boy with 10 sisters. Additionally, Additionally, Nickelodeon today announced its 11 finalists from its 2014 Animated Shorts Program. The shorts will be produced by the end of the year to feed the development pipeline. They are: "Francine" by Katie Crown; "Meat Pie vs. the Dark Ages" by Nickelodeon director Gabe Swarr, "Shelf Life" by Nickelodeon storyboard artist Robert Iza; "Summer Memories" by writer/director Adam Yaniv; "Ice Station Zedonk" by Nickelodeon director Tom Parkinson; "Night Crew" by independent animators Caitlin Boyle and Tara Helfer; "Planet Claire" by Nickelodeon executive producers Chris Viscardi and Will McRobb; "The Outsiders" by writer Eric Bravo; "Leander, Dre and Cyppy" by Nickelodeon storyboard artist Monica Ray; "Ugly Mutt" by PUNY Entertainment's Shadi Petosky and Dave Hagen; and "Bad News Bunny" by California State University, Fullerton, graduate Tarryn Henderson. Last weekend, I got this book called Operation Beautiful by Caitlin Boyle that gives you tips on how to boost your self-esteem, how to respond to negative feedback, how to maintain a healthy body, etc., plus some quotes from teenage girls that participated in Operation Beautiful (basically, write a mantra on a Post-it note and stick it to a public place such as a public bathroom or dressing room). This whole entire week was a bit stressful for me since it was testing for my school and we had to leave early. Since I had a lot of free time and little homework, I distracted myself by reading the book, following its tips and doing the Operation Beautiful Post-it note (as the one shown above). 

Just today, my dad brought in our old whiteboard from ages ago and being the curious girl that experiments on everything, I grabbed a whiteboard marker and suddenly, I was writing inspirational quotes and sentences from the Operation Beautiful all over the place. And feeling very proud of myself, I decided to take a picture of it and post it on my Tumblr blog because why not? 

People out there in the world deserve to live a happy life- and sometimes, yes, life just sucks. But that doesn’t mean you should feel sucky. Instead, be happy. Do something, be confident, never be afraid to try new things. Don’t let the haters get in your way. Run, play, write, blog, whatever you want to do because nobody is stopping you except yourself. :)

90 Days of CrossFit

CrossFit is all around me. It started with my sisters long time lovey and CrossFit extraordinaire, "Brother" Bill Grundler. He owns CrossFit Inferno in San Luis Obispo and has been dedicated to the CrossFit lifestyle for years, before most people even knew what it was. He is in ridiculously good shape. I have watched his dedication to CrossFit grow, and what I always loved and admired about him is his belief and passion toward the CrossFit way of life. Years ago, I would be visiting town, sitting in my childhood home while my mom made breakfast. Laughing and sipping mimosas with my sisters. I look to my sister Danica and say, "Where's Bill?" She would nonchalantly say, “He is running up Madonna with a fire hose. He should be here soon." To which I would reply something like, "Dude, Bill probably eats babies for breakfast!" Or "Bill the Beast!" Or "He is fucking crazy." Or, "Why???" Her response was, “Well, he is a fireman, if he rescued you from a burning building, he better be able to carry your ass out!” Hey, when you’re right, you’re right! My sister, having been a dancer and lover of sports her whole life, got into the CrossFit world soon after Bill. She is 32.5 now, certified in CrossFit and CrossFit kids, and has seriously never looked better. She just opened CrossFit Northern Inferno the day after Thanksgiving and is loving it. My husband, a total fitness junkie, is very close to opening CrossFit Ohana here in LA. Seriously there is not a single day he doesn’t do something athletic. So to say CrossFit is part of my life, is an understatement. My very first workout after having my daughter via c-section was a CrossFit workout. Nice choice, right? I seriously cannot even believe I did it. I would never have walked into a CrossFit gym 7 weeks postpartum. Hell no. I mean these people push massive tracker tires around for fun! I was lucky. I had the entire Inferno to myself, with Bill, Danica and Darren by my side. I did the row machine, ball throws, assisted pushups and pull ups. I felt good, alive, and back on the road to me! I wish I could say that I never looked back, but this was almost 3 years ago now. I have done Crossfit work outs on and off over the years, but it never stuck. I gave some effort a year ago to commit to it, knowing how fortunate I was to LIVE with a trainer and that I should take advantage of it. I just could not see Darren as a trainer and when my husband was telling me what to do, I wanted to rip his head off. I have made a conscious effort to see him as a trainer and now I am ready to learn and listen. I am so excited to have a killer bod. Not going to lie.

The commitment:

3 days on, 1 day off for 90 days

Following The Primal Blueprint diet by Mark Sisson (this is the easy part. That 80/20 rule is everything.)

Not allowed to physically or verbally harm my husband :-)
