I’m realizing that I have literally no idea what’s going on in the fandom and with Taylor outside of listening to her music and rewatching her documentaries over and over cause I’m so out of touch with it all oof lol.

Is there a way to sum everything up for someone who doesn’t know anything about what’s been going on?

Sure!

So Taylor broke up with her long time boyfriend Joe in April (I think?) and this was while she was on tour, so people were hoping she was okay and dealing with it properly. Then an article drops that it’s rumored her and Matty Healy (lead singer of the 1975) are ‘casually seeing each other’.

At first it was just a rumor and no one actually believed it because she’s always rumored to be with people when she’s single, but then he started showing up at some eras tour shows and was seen going to her apartment in Nashville. This is when people started to believe the rumors and people were discovering all his past problematic behaviors, including but not limited to: antisemitism, mocking aapi accents, general racism including saying the n word, admitting to liking a certain porn genre that is about hurting and berating black women, sexism, homophobia, etc. a simple google search can provide all the receipts.

So naturally a lot of fans were upset, and it started to grow into a controversy that eventually news outlets were picking up on. Buzzfeed released an article about her fan’s distancing themselves from her and it got traction, we hoped she would see it and stop being seen with him/hanging out with him but then that night she went out with him to a party.

This is kinda the final straw for a lot of people considering she’s never been the most socially aware person in the world, especially not an active one in the most recent years, and possibly dating a man who has done all of these things (as recently as last month) amplified her white feminism and lack of inclusiveness. So people are distancing themselves from her, changing urls and waiting to see if anything changes.

(Also note that people are mad at phoebe bridgers as well because she’s opening for Taylor on tour and has been bringing him out on stage during her set, and has been friends with him for years)

Spending so many days in the infected CPS is going to have nasty effects—and not the kind that can be just shaken off in a day or two. Fortunately for Chris, he's got a brother and three friends to help him along.
