"No one is going to do that", they respond, it was just lashing out from frustration, wasn't it? Surely he wasn't actually thinking people would strangle others with a tie... If he didn't like it they weren't going to suggest him to keep it, not wanting to force a change for something that didn't matter, but... "I think it makes you look very handsome", they were willing to provide some coaxing to help him feel more comfortable with it. After all, it wasn't a lie.
