my darling, for the emoji asks please: 🤡 🎶 🤲 🤯
🤡 What’s a line, scene, or exchange you’ve written that made you laugh?
I think I find myself funnier than I actually am, but the line from the opening of and then this is you when Lexi says her current boyfriend is “the exact type of handsome that leaves Lexi in constant surprise he’s never managed to book a role as a background Elder on a Book of Mormon tour” did make me laugh.
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
It really depends, sometimes I feel I write better without music, but other times I will have some on pretty low and I’ve been doing well with that recently. The new Maggie Rogers album came out last week so there has been a lot of that - especially “Anywhere With You” and “Horses”. Also, “That’s Where I Am” is THE Fexi song for me since I first heard it but I have yet to write the perfect fic to use a lyric from it as a title, haha.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
This is the current opening to the Princess Lexi/Bodyguard Fez wip
Of all the things Fez had thought to expect from his first official day of work at the palace, Rue appearing just as he was about to meet the new person he’s been charged with protecting is not one of them.
“Agent O’Neill,” she greets him, with an excess of formality like she didn’t give him a leaving card which had ‘Fuck Off to Your New Job’ as the message on the front. “Agent Carmichael,” she nods to the head of protection services for the royal family. “Brian.” She ends with the Head of the Royal Household, whom Fez had only been introduced to as Mr Rafferty.
“Ms Bennett, thank you for offering to introduce Agent O’Neill to Princess Alexis, it’s much appreciated.” It’s one of the few smiles Fez has seen from Agent Carmichael.
Mr Rafferty, or Brian he guesses, coughs. “Yes, very helpful, Ms Bennett, as per usual.” The sarcasm is dripping from every word, but under a veil of smarminess.
“Some mornings I just wake up and think, ‘Man, what would make Brian’s job easier?’ and then I set out to do just that.” Rue brings her palms together, almost like she’s praying, and tips them under her chin.
🤯 What’s a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
Oh action would definitely be it, I would not enjoy describing all that movement and figuring out where all the people are and what they’re doing. When I watch superhero films I almost always think there’s one more fight scene than there should be and wish people would just talk out their problems, lol.
