The blumentrio polycule was a thing that happened thanks to Bren, actually. Only him and Astrid had had partners before (nothing too serious, the kind of first relationships that you wouldn't even recall as a 'first love'), and they seemed to understand each other better, which is why Eadwulf chose to ask Bren for advice when it came to his newfound feelings towards Astrid.

I can see him as more socially awkward where Bren was fairly popular and more conventionally attractive, so he had all sort of doubts about dating. You know, like kissing. I can see Bren giving him his first kiss, per Eadwulf request. Just to try it out, see how it feels, so he wouldn't make a fool of himself in front of (hopefully) Astrid. Teenager things. But in spending more time with Eadwulf, sharing their feelings and insecurities in a way they never truly had before, Bren started to see him in a different light.

The thing is, he had always liked Astrid, but never acted on it — in fact, most people around them would often tease them about them looking like a couple. Of course, Bren couldn't tell Eadwulf about that, and he was willing to step back to let him have Astrid (or not, but he wasn't planning on dating his friend's crush anyway).

The climax of this teenage drama came when Astrid decided to finally declare his feelings for... Bren. You can only imagine how utterly betrayed Eadwulf felt. Astrid was very confused about everything, and guilty about not having read the situation better and possibly having ruined her friendship not only with Bren, but with Eadwulf as well. And Bren was, indeed, caught in a bisexual maelstrom.

For a few days it seemed their friendship was done for good, but Bren brought Astrid and Eadwulf together to talk about everything, delivered a short but moving speech about their relationship, and encouraged Eadwulf to share everything he had told him about his feelings for Astrid. So, not really knowing how to proceed, Bren suggested they could just... become partners, all three of them, and see how it went.

And it went pretty great.

All of this probably happened in the span of... two, three weeks at most, and mostly in between classes. Being a teenager is exhausting.

Also Caleb would be too embarrassed to talk about how eager his hormone-driven teen self was about secretly making out with Eadwulf during recess, so he would ABSOLUTELY avoid giving many details about how the three of them started dating.

Caleb's parents were devout followers of the gods, especially Pelor. He never felt this connection to the divine, instead feeling more attracted to the arcane as both his lifelong passion, and a potential way to earn enough coin to get his family out of poverty.

Eventually, Caleb started favoring Ioun, not only because she's more aligned with his interests, but also thanks to Beau's influence. Either way, he's not the type to pray, so his attitude towards gods, although respectful, is fairly neutral.

Enid loves PDA in general and would gladly shower her partner with affection at any chance she gets. She adores hugs and is the greatest fan of hand holding. She's not too keen on getting too passionate in public, however, mostly because she's shy. So keep the steamy kisses at home.

For Caleb, it depends. His version is that he'd rather keep all affection private. The truth is, he'll often rely on his partner's touch for comfort, and will comfort them through touch as well. Cheek and forehead kisses are his favorite (of course they are), while holding hands while walking would probably feel too awkward for his liking because he has a tendency to fidget and can't quite keep his hands still for long. Also if they've been dating for a short time he'll probably have extra sweaty hands.

For Fallahan nearly everything is simultaneously a big no and a big yes. He loves PDA in every shape and form if it means drawing attention to himself and his partner, and he's a big flirt that would do anything in his power to make his partner red in the face. However, he likes giving it more than receiving it, and the simplest things can make him uneasy and elusive if he wasn't ready for it in the first place. Kisses are usually his go-to form of PDA, while hand holding is often a little too intimate (more about that here)
