Kemmy: What's Up Calibar, we so interested to interview you as an new upcoming artist for 2012.
Calibar: Cool I'm up for it
Kemmy: For those who don't know who are. Give us an insight into your career i.e how you entered into the UK music scene...?
Calibar: Well, I'm from North London. And I started rapping in a group called Combination Camp with the likes of Wretch 32 and Nero.
Kemmy: Wow, so I assume that you know Wretch very well then?
Calibar: Yeah, I'm very proud of what he's achieved. And even though we're not a group and we're pursuing our own solo projects. I support him every step of the way.
Kemmy: Man, that's what we need just the love (smiles and laughs).
Calibar: (laughs). I took a long break from the music scene for a while. I began rapping again a year and a half later. I released my first visual (music video) on Channel AKA, which reached to # 7 in the Channel's music countdown. It was an non-mover for a whole month.
Kemmy. Wow, that;s already success in the making for you isn't it?
Calibar: Yeah. After that success, I released a visual mix-tape with Grime Daily called 'Going Back to Cali'
Kemmy: Hmm, that's something innovative, a visual mix tape. Tell me about 'Going Back to Cali'
Calibars: My mixtape (Going Back to Cali) has 7 tracks for each day of the week. There was first a 'vistape'...
Kemmy: Ooooh a 'vistape'....
Calibar...(laughs), which stood for the visual mixtape. At the end of the 7 days, both the mixtape and 'vistape were available for free download.
Kemmy: You'r mix tape has received a positive response from fans. Any prospects for 2012? Any artists that you'd like to work with?
Calibar: Well 2012, I'll plan to release a few singles from the 'Going Back to Cali' mix-tape. I have plans to work with the likes of Slick from Ruff Squard, Blade Brown and Ghetts...
Kemmy: Hmmm can't wait for those collaborations. What do think of the UK music now in terms of the success of the UK music building their won 'swagger' away from the US?
Calibar: I feel proud, we're now considered as artists. We first started with nothing and we've now made it BIG, making and getting record deals.
Kemmy: I know! I can remember back in the 00's everyone was listening to a lot of US artists and now the US are loving artist such as Tinie Tempah, Estelle, Jessie J...etc. You have Twitter right?
Calibar: Yes, you can follow me @Calibars via Twitter.
Kemmy: Okay (pause) you what, I think you should write down your Twitter address on my notepad (laughs)
