Local Supers Missing!!
Skaia Daily News
by Caliborn English April 7th 2018
It has been six months since any has seen or heard from any of the super powered beings we have come to know in this fair city of ours. The last time one was spotted was when the we all witnessed the battle between The Lord and The Muse, which at the time destroyed most of downtown. After that day it seemed like they all just disappeared. And while it is nice that villains such as Fem Fatal and Slack have left the scene, we are also at a loss without heroes such as The Hurricane or Bar Belle. SO while it is true crime rates have dropped severely The Skaia Police Department ( now under the leadership of Arron Remington ) has been stretched thin due to the reports of gang and other small time crimes happening. We just hope that our heroes return to us sooner rather than later. Tho I fear we may have seen the last of them for now.
O.O
the punchline
No main characters die. Ever. Only beings such as those born within the context of the worlds skaia inhabits are killable(other humans, lusi, the chessmen&consorts), but not players. why? because the whole comic is literally a cartoon! a work of fiction! it’s “not real”!
As a Lord of Time Caliborn’s chief powers lie ultimately over the fates of all events (whether canonical or not) as well as the timely deaths of all characters, himself included. Lord English has been made out to be this horrible monster from beyond the end of reality, but all he seems to do is kill those who either don’t exist within the confines of reality or those who are the doomed versions of all skaian players whom had the light of the green sun reach them. And if Doc Scratch’s description of how he defines the Alpha Timeline can be extrapolated upon it would imply that LE’s continuity extends through realities which would ultimately lead to his birth/death. It might even imply that LE considers vaporizing ghosts with firebreath to be a good thing because to him it means those ghosts existed in the first place, as well as all history which leads up to them..
So, as the greatest red herring of all, Caliborn has never killed anyone, factually. His sister is still alive, just sleeping dormant within his mind. The first person he met, Gamzee, Caliborn attempted to murder with all due diligence and failed even when he moved on from his gun to the juju-busting crowbar. I don’t think he can kill anyone but himself. really.
get this: if the Lord of Time can decide when anyone dies and that power extends to himself as well, then Caliborn can only die under circumstances which would serve him and his desires. thus, the only fashion through which Calliope can succeed over Caliborn is through a scenario in which Caliborn voluntarily secedes his waking control, this scenario being the one already set in motion by john sticking his hand into the window...
so, question: how is it that Caliborn’s big surprise is going to culminate in the fall of Lord English? Or, is Caliborns big surprise going to GIVE RISE to LE?
is there any conceivable way caliborn and calliope have never actually talked to one another? as in, imagine if the version of caliborn we know had instead been communicating with alt!calliope most of his life and calliope was talking to alt!caliborn since she could ever remember. they've only ever spoken through their chess game and through the chat client... and because of the twisting way this story is bound to go before the end this might just be a plausible alt!calliope-win! bet.
normally speaking cherubs would have to figure out how to communicate with one another without the aid of digital technology so it makes sense that young cherubs would in fact play games with one another in order to pass the time of being alive. it must be an interesting existence where every time you go to sleep you become the other person, and must deal with the consequences of that persons actions as well as your own.
Does anyone realize that Caliborn is the one putting in the commands in the beginning of act 2, or is that my imagination.
