Little late but here’s some shots from New Year’s Eve
Come and have the experience of a lifetime at Kabukiza Theatre in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan. Here you will find traditional Japanese theater. If you don’t know anything about Kabuki, it’s traditional Japanese theater that dates back to when Tokyo was named Edo during the 1600. The costumes are traditional Japanese clothing. All the roles of the play including the female roles are played by men. Also, the majority of the actors are descendants of actors before them. They have 1 hour shows and 4 hours shows. The 4 hour shows can be expensive, but it includes a full play and a break between the show. The hour shows are actually just one acts. My husband and I bought two 1 hour shows. They cost us about $14 dollars a show. Be sure to ask about the English translator, it’s 10 bucks. Believe me, it’s worth it to get it. The whole thing is in Japanese and you wont know what’s happening without a translator. Before the show we went to a cool kabuki museum that had behind the scenes about how the shows are made. They also had history about it and a great little shop that sold matcha products. I LOVE matcha so this was ideal for me. I bought a soft serve of matcha for 6 buck or 600 yen. It was very good. If you’re in Ginza, definitely check this out.
