hi! i love your blog, its super informative! im having trouble figuring out my gender though. im afab, but it feels awkward calling myself a girl. i relate to any other gender either though, but i know i have one. i mind she/her the least, but it doesn't feel like it fits. my gender feels like its behind a wall or something, i just need to figure it out. it doesn't affect me too much; it kind of feels weak. idk if im one gender either. nothing feels right. thank you! sorry if this is confusing
TW: genital/chest mention. hi, this is the anon who said their gender feels like its behind a wall, i have more info which may help. i dont dislike my chest, but i wish it was flat. i dont want any genitals either, id rather it be featureless. i dont feel feminine-i dont hate presenting that way, id just rather be masc. i dont think my gender(s) changes, maybe its like a mix of different genders? i just dont know what they are. sorry if this is too much info or im clogging the inbox! thank you!!
I’ll do best working with what you’ve given me. :)
So let’s see… so you know you definitely have a gender. So you’re not agender. But it feels like its behind a wall and kind of weak. For these first feelings you’ve described, there are a few terms that may help:
Wallgender: when you have a gender that is (sometimes) separated or detached from other genders. For example, being a wallgirl would mean you’re a girl, but you don’t understand the idea of other genders because you don’t even know what they are. It can also be fluid if your gender “tunnels” beneath the “walls”, or it can be demigender if the “wall” is glass-like or “has windows”.
Caligogender: On the agender spectrum, defined as feeling gender that is very weak or vague, almost nonexistent, like a vapor, fog, or mist.
Emigender/Solverigender: Having a loose or weak connection to a gender or certain qualities, but not actually being that gender.
Gossagender: From the root word gossamer, meaning light, transparent, and fragile; a gentle and fragile gender; a gender that is barely there.
Graygender/Gray Agender: is a term that describes a nonbinary gender that is weak and/or indeterminate or that the individual themself is not that invested in their gender.
Vocigender: a gender that is weak-feeling and hollow rather than a specific, certain gender.
As for your chest, that sounds like you have some sort of top dysphoria, or at least some sort of disconnect. As for wanting to be featureless below the waist, that sounds like angenital, which is the desiring to not have any genitalia. Combined with your chest, that may mean that you also wish to be asex?
You can be any number of genders and be masculine, so none of these identities are mutually exclusive. And if its a mix, then you are probably some sort of multigender. Putting both of these into context, there are some possibilities:
Alexigender: Gender Identity which is fluid between more than one gender, but the individual cannot tell what those genders are.
Gyragender, Gyaragender, or Gendervex: When you have multiple genders but don’t understand any of them. Can be combined with relevant genders if you’re able to figure out some part of it. (Ex: if you’re gyramasculine, you don’t understand your gender, but you know they have masculine qualities).
Hope that helps!
