✉ - Stay out of the way of trouble, don't let yourself be known and just report everything back to us- those where the terms which she was supposed to follow as an information broker. What the newspaper company had been paying her to do. Avoid an observer's paradox, don't get involved. Untouched information was the best. You're nothing but a watcher, not a part of the event.
Perhaps it was in her very nature to be a rebel of sorts, to disregard rules that were given to her when she found it necessary. She would not allow human life to be the cost of a good story if she could- the only thing that had never quite fit her for her job.
So when she saw the familiar faces of the local gang of this town that she had found from only months old jail reports that she had stolen from the police department, she knew to keep her head down. It should have stayed that way, gone about as planned- but the stranger not too far away from her didn't seem aware of his predicament, of the man reaching to get his gun off his belt to defend his 'territory'. It would have been easy for her to continue walking as little more than a ghost or a shadow to him, but...
"Hey! Watch it! Behind you!"
Her dad hadn't been wrong when he had told her she wouldn't have been cut out for this job- she cared too much.
