♦: Slow dancing "May I have this dance?"
The party she’d been invited to was weird. And boring. Mostly boring. Especially for one thrown in this part of town. She’d had to get dressed up in her nicest dress, since the invitation said it was a ‘black tie affair’. Whatever that meant. But hey, it must have meant that someone thought she was classy enough to join in this fanciness. Not wanting to prove otherwise, she’d showed up, decently dressed and had managed to keep from swearing the entire night. If they wanted class, she was going to show them class.
If only it wasn’t so boring. She was absolutely bored to death, standing against the wall beside the bar. At least that was something. All the drinks were free and she had taken advantage of that. Sure, they were served in frilly little glasses with little mini straws, but the alcohol tasted the same, even if they didn’t pour much of it at one time. She’d already had five glasses of rum, but she was barely tipsy. “Must be watered down, or something…”
She was lost in thought when the kid approached her. The sight of his lips moving was what snapped her out of her own thoughts. She hadn’t heard what he said. And now he was just smiling at her. Great. Don’t be rude, don’t be rude. "Excuse me?" She tried to keep her tone from sounding haughty, but her boredom had given her a slight attitude. At worst, it would scare the kid away. Not like that mattered any to her.
