“I don’t want to freak you out, but you look super suspicious. Everyone knows the Monster of 92nd street hunts after suspicious-looking people most of all. Rumor has it that the monster used to be a beautiful young man who married his high school sweet heart. After 5 years he started noticing that his husband was acting suspicious all the time. He investigated and found out that he’d been cheating for their entire relationship — even in high school.
“He hunted after his husband’s lover and everyone related to him — just hacked them all up! And now he lurks the streets trying to find other suspicious people… so he can get them back for their wrong-doings.”
Not bad for a rumor that she’d just completely made up. Of course the girl would look suspicious with someone accusing her of something like that; and saying they were being chased by a monster.
✉- Rachel had been accused of a few things in the past, but the word ‘suspicious’ had never been used to describe her. If anything, she was much the opposite most of the time. This woman was either trying very hard to grab her attention, or just having harmless fun in trying to freak her out.
But either way, she had trouble believing the tale she was told. Something set up like an urban myth- though the fact that it was with a male couple told her it most likely not a widespread legend. Not that she had any disagreements about it- those stories just rarely had the formula to be very popular among the common people. She wanted to guess it had been either an obscure story or something the other woman had made up on the spot.
She figured she might as well try and have some fun with her theory- see if it was right considering she rarely run into the same person more than once unless they had business together.
“I...I think I might of heard of this story before...but the person who told it me said that the cheater’s mistress was an Asian woman wasn’t she? I’ve heard he likes to go after those as well....”
Walking over to the young woman out of boredom, Chopper's bored expression turned to a gleeful grin. Rushing over to her, he finally stopped in front of the girl, reaching his hoof out to poke her leg and get her attention. "Excuse me!" He called out joyously, hoping to make a new friend.

✉ - She had been previously attempting to be occupied, eyes only half paying attention to the words on the book she was holding- a novel that she had used multiple times in the classic tactic of pretending to be unfocused to the world around her. She was attentive to any conversations going on around her, ears trying to pick out bits of information that some would pay for. Nothing yet. The mafioso had been quiet lately.
“Huh?“ the surprise at the poke on her leg was rather obvious, for someone who made their sole living on blending in with a crowd, it was unusual that she’d be noticed.
Especially by…what was in front of her. What it was, exactly, she couldn’t say. But the little guy did look friendly enough. She found no reason to ignore him when business seemed to be so slow for her anyways.
“Oh…hello…do you need anything?”
chopperpirate:
“Hm…? Talking? That could be more fun than standing around all day!” He pointed out with a wide grin growing wider across his face, hoping that he could relieve this woman of her own boredom. Had he known that she was just as starved for conversation as he was, he probably would have approached with even more enthusiasm, as impossible as that may have seemed. Letting a small chuckle escape his lips, he smiled upon her once more.
“I have a tent set up in a nearby forest, or we could find some restaurant to eat at! It’s comfier than standing after all.” He suggested, hoping to keep his new friend from getting exhausted from standing around like this.
Reaching his hoof forward, Chopper awaited a handshake of sorts as he spoke softly, his eyes sparkling with excitement and eagerness. “My name’s Tony Tony Chopper! Thanks for being my friend!”
✉ - What a kind soul, strange as his appearance was. But she wasn’t going to complain about that very much, she’d rather have a talking reindeer as company rather than silence. Perhaps it took something different than your average human to have the desire to interact with a less than normal girl.
A forest? It took her a few seconds to draw a mental map of where she was, giving a bit of guesswork as to where he meant.
“I wouldn’t have a problem with either one of those, but to be perfectly honest, I don’t know how any of the other locals have been reacting to you....not to be rude, but it’s not everyday you see someone like yourself around.”
Taking his-uh, hand?- into hers, to return the greeting given to her, she gave a slight tug on the side of her bandana as a nervous tic. “And mine’s Rachel- it’s very nice to meet you Tony.”
ask-isaac-and-miria:
Isaac and Miria looked over, surprised at the interruption. Their robberies were rarely interrupted before they even got to the store in question.
“Yes, we’re doing fantastically, how about yourself?” Isaac called back, always one for interaction with random people.
✉ - It took her a moment to realize the man was talking to her, even when she hadn’t said anything to begin with. Had he mistaken her for someone else? It was so rare for her to be addressed directly that it took her a second longer to respond that it should have.
“I’m...fine.”
For all the listening and spying she did, conversation wasn’t her strong suit outside of negations.

evegenoard:
Eve was walking down the street unaccompanied—unusual for a proper young lady of the time, but then, Eve wasn’t a traditional young lady. She saw the stranger eyeing her, and walked over.
“Hello, ma’am. Is everything all right?” she asked politely.
✉ - Rachel’s best talent, unimpressive as it was, had always been her ability to disappear in a crowd. Even those who met her usually forgot her name, a little blur of green in any memory for the most part. Even when she looked at others, her gaze was very rarely met- even rarer was it that she was addressed.
She had let her eyes trace the movements of the well dressed lady in front of her, drawn to her attention by the fact that she seemed to alone.
“Yes- I’m alright..” Her injured leg from the incident on the flying pussyfoot shifted underneath her, whatever pain it caused her easily masked “Miss Genoard- yes? I remember Nicholas mentioning you stopped by at the Daily Days not too long ago...”

Although he remained quiet for some time, he wasn’t really debating on whether or not he should tell her. It was personal, regardless of whether or not he would see her again. It was the kinda thing he’d rather forget than remember and —
"It’s nothing important."
He combed a hand through the top of his head as he let out a breath, more annoyed with himself, honestly, for getting someone involved in this strange mood he was it.
"Jus’ why are you askin’? It’s not like it’d do you any favors knowin’ what’s on my mind, an’ all."
✉ - The information gave a small shrug of her shoulders, making it clear that she was willing to drop the topic by now. She had pushed enough. She knew when there wasn't getting any information out of anyone- for their own good or her own personal gain.
"Fair enough. If you say so."
He probably knew she didn't believe that- but she was alright with that, happy to change the topic to the question he had asked instead.
"I'm certainly aware of that, but I didn't come here for favors. It couldn't hurt to ask. That and- I hate to mention it, but even a vagabond needs to try to be a touch social every once in a while"
"Huh?" Erika turned, almost unaware that someone had even hit her. It happened so often in the busy streets of Ikebukuro that she almost expected it, though not many people took the time to apologize in such a nice way…
"It’s okay…" she blinked, studying the other’s expression. She had the look of a person who was worried about something, and if there was anything to worry about in this town—
"Are you being chased?" she asked, looking over the other girl’s shoulder. There was no one there but that didn’t mean much."I get it… you’re being chased by the invisible beast of 56th street, he’s got massive claws and a spectral demeanor, he looks like this—" she demonstrated the fearful expression, "
✉ - She wasn't used to working in public places like this one. Populated areas, certainly- but not cities. She was a bit too polite and well mannered to realize that not most would stop to apologize for such a thing- but she learned that much when she saw the woman's temporary confusion. Well noted.
"The...what?" even with the description, she was confused by the statement. A monster? She hadn't heard of such a thing. Was this a rumor she had failed to pick up on? Skepticism aside, she found no harm in learning about it, playing along with what she was told.
"Why...why would he be after me?".
She nodded, a small smile curling across her face. Do you know what might be wrong? I never really take the train, and they haven’t made any announcements.
Her face reddened as she finished writing and held out the paper again. Despite her question being a valid one, she felt rather stupid for needing to asking it. After all, even she who knew little about trains could imagine an engine failure, but speculation meant little when she simply didn’t know. She was already likely to be late as it was.
Her stomach twisted. It’s alright if you don’t know. I’m sorry to be bothering you about this.
✉ - "Hmm..." The information broker let out a small hum, brows creasing together momentarily in thought, filing through any memories that might have been attached to the question, her gaze wandering from the piece of paper being held up to her.
"Well, the last time I was on the train, I did notice some strange sounds coming from the engine- nothing dangerous, but it told me it'd probably be breaking down for repairs soon enough."
If she remembered what her father had taught her, anyways. Turning her gaze back to the piece of paper that had been used to communicate with her in the first place, she quickly addressed the concern shown to her.
"Oh, no! It's fine! Finding things out is pretty much what I do for a living, so it's no trouble..."
call-me-switch:
Switch turned to what she warned him about, seeing the gun he immediatly kicked it out of the others hand, grabbing it and aimed it at his assailant "Nice gun, personally I prefer my sword though." He grinned and made a show of beating the everliving crap out of the gang member that kept attacking him. "Meh, was kinda fun." He said before dropping the gun and heading towards the girl. "Thanks for the help, but I dunno if I needed it."
✉ - The bout of violence she saw in front of her eyes made her flinch for a second, taking a step to the side in case she needed to get out of the way. She had already done much more than the daily days would have ever approved of by breaking the role of the passive observer, but she couldn't really stick around to see the outcome if this was going to be a long fight.
But it was over a lot more quickly than she would have expected, the information broker giving a few blinks of near confusion.
"Well...I'm sorry? I was just worried, is all..."
