Scott wasn’t going to say that he was hopeless — but he knew that posting the “wanted a” was a long shot. Craigslist, of all things, happened to be his last resort, because granted if Scott had the time and money to knock on every door in the Los Angeles area, Scott would have done just that.
He had gotten a few fake responses, which, admittedly, felt like a given. Scott was absentmindedly staring at his desktop screen while at work when it suddenly made a ding —- one new email. The boy was always hopeful, so he slowly rose up in his seat before clicking on the tab. The email address brought on an entire moment, and Scott swore his stomach fell to the ground right then and there. He was completely straight in his seat by then, haphazardly clicking clickable links because his excitement had gotten the best of him.
The twenty one year old almost had his face pressed against the screen as if he had forgotten how to read all of a sudden —- no, this was definitely her. Scott could practically hear Lydia’s voice as he read her email in his head, accompanied with off-guard laughs and all. This was her, this was the girl that Scott had been looking for — Scott found her.
Scott had to force himself to relax, because he didn’t want his eagerness to scare her away, despite the fact that she seemed willing to meet up with him. He had to play itcool.

Yeah, just a little bit. I’m not really into social media, and I heard about a lot of people finding love on Craigslist, so, it made sense to me? Oh, god, I hope you don’t think I turned sleazy, now. I’ll take it down right now. It’s down. Gone. Never happened. Hi to you too, by the way. I’m actually kind of surprised you even responded, to be honest, with the way we — you know. I thought of us cutting off contact would have been for the best, but, if it wasn’t obvious by now, I didn’t exactly get over you as much as I planned to. I swear I don’t want to steal a lock of your hair or anything. I just want to see you. You and your smile. So, if you’re not comfortable meeting in person right away - which, I totally understand! - we can Skype or FaceTime instead. I can give you my number that I have now, if texting is easier, because as I write this I’m starting to forget the last time I wrote an email. I’m glad that your friend found me, too. Tell that friend I said thank you. Thanks a whole lot. And I love those pictures. You’re probably more beautiful now than you were then. I’m done being a creep, I swear. - Scott McCall
A ding goes off, a signal that she either has a new text or a new email, and as a person who uses gadgets a lot --- for many reasons, she immediately checks out what she has been notified of.
Another email, from Scott. Upon reading his response, she finds herself smiling. She can feel his excitement from the email, and she lets out a genuine laugh. Lydia has always found his optimism cute, his ability to stay excited over the littlest of things. He reminds her of a hyper puppy, always ready to brighten up anyone’s day.
It’s safe to say that she missed him. And just reading his email makes her miss him more. It’s been a couple of years since their last meeting and it hadn’t really ended well. How they’re taking it both so light right now, she doesn’t know; she’d rather not think about it either, so she reads on and the smile easily comes back on her features.
He wants to meet up with her. Or just keep in touch. Which is great! Really. He’s a great guy, a keeper, and in another world where both of them live in the same neighborhood, she’s sure that their relationship will last longer than it did in their current universe.
Her heart thumps as she types her response, eyes concentrated on her computer screen --- all other things, forgotten. He always did have a way with words, and even if he's out of sight, he can still make her blush.

Oh God, I'm still laughing about this. My friend says no problem by the way, she got way too excited about finding a post that's... you know, about me. I would love to meet you! Of course I do. I'm just a little nervous that things may not be as smooth as it is in email but it'd be great to see you again.
You're still quite the charmer, you know that? But I'm really glad my friend found your post otherwise we wouldn't have reconnected. Just tell me when and where? I'll be there, I promise. I would never stand you up.
