Today is not a good day.

I took my cat, Cally, to the vet this morning. She has had a long history of medical problems, but they all seem to boil down to swollen lymph nodes in her neck, seemingly with no real cause. Thought I felt another swelling coming on, but in a different place, so I wasn't quite sure. Still, I thought it might be worth a trip to the vet -- if nothing was wrong, I'd just be out a little time and cash, but Cally would be okay. On the other hand, if she needed steroids or something for a swollen lymph node, the only way to get those is at a vet. Unfortunately, the vet came out shortly after we arrived and looked very serious. He said this is probably not a lymph node but instead a tumor. He had to shave her neck and do a fine needle aspirate (FNA) to get a sample of this thing, and it was sent off for testing at a lab. Not only was the whole experience really expensive, now I'm terribly on edge waiting for these results to tell me what the mass is. They also took some blood, I think, to do a feline HIV test. Even though she's tested negative in the past, they said she was due for another test. She's only almost six years old -- that's very young for a cat, but I guess tumors don't really care what age you are. I don't know what to do with myself until the results come back...

I've have a new child!

Her name is Cally Cat, a somewhat strange gal with the ability to speak with the dead -most people think she's crazy and there not wrong- Halo and Mintri are her two spirit buddys. They usually help Cally out with typically stuff like chores or just to be a friend.
