miranda’s voice is unsteady. she rarely speaks with conviction – and when she does, she’s likely to take it back immediately for fear of offense anyway. her voice is very expressive, a little higher-pitched, and liable to rise into the realm of ‘only dogs can hear her’ when panicked.

of the many things she frets about, the pitchiness of her voice isn’t actually one of them; the woman has long since resigned herself to her fate.

there aren’t any aus in particular i’d like with miranda, but i’m always down for pacific rim aus -- they don’t even have to be co-pilots. why not have some loccent shenanigans? or pilot/technician, or even k-science buddies? i’m also a fan of fairy tales or folklore aus with a twist ... and most aus in general, actually. i’m always open to ideas on that front!

Bizarre. She’s never seen someone so bizarre looking in her entire life. Between the feathers, the height, the glasses -- he’s really doing the absolute most, isn’t he. Maybe it isn’t his fault, though. Maybe he’s making the best out of an unfortunate situation. It’s not like her to reach out to a person like this, but he’s caught her on a good day.

☾ - scheme a plan with yours

     Miranda’s just minding her own business, as per usual; she has the day off because school’s out, so, with wisdom (not) gained from years of experience, she decides to go to the museum. (Because being surrounded by halls of priceless pieces of art couldn’t possibly go pear-shaped, right?)

     She’s so wrong.

     One moment, she’s looking at a delightfully colorful, weirdly abstract painting of a horse – or is it an apple tree? – and the next, alarms are blaring and someone’s shoved a bunch of porcelain fragments into her hands. It takes a few stunned moments of shock before she shrieks and drops it all onto the floor. “That’s – n-no, I didn’t –” Miranda desperately glances around for someone, anyone, to tell her that it’s nothing but a bad dream, but there’s no one else in this particular room, except –

     – who even dresses like that? But she’s panicking, now, and if she has to face down a giant man with terrifyingly flamboyant taste, so be it. “Y-you saw that, right?” she wheezes nervously, looking as if she’s about to cry. “Please help me –” Miranda looks back at the remains of a rather plain-looking (but undoubtedly expensive) vase, then at back at the man – “I mean, we can – we can j-just glue it back together, right?”

☤ - self care/first aid habits

Hinami is very good at self care. She is generally a cheerful person, but spending long stretches of time alone can get to her. And she does spend a lot of time by herself. When she’s feeling down, she has a list to choose from: shower, drink tea, bake (especially something that can be decorated), weave flower crowns out of fake flowers from the dollar store (and see how many she can balance on her head at once), pet Gigi, take a nap, paint her nails... it’s a very long list.

First aid, she’s not as good at. She buys a lot of pretty band-aids, and she knows what neosporin is, but that’s about it. Usually if she gets hurt, she slaps a band-aid on it and waits for it to go away. Her favorite pattern so far is Blues Clues.

Hinami was supposed to get off her break two minutes ago, but she hadn't noticed. She was reading, which meant that very little outside of her book could get her to focus on the real world again. She was vaguely aware that she was short on time, but she only had two pages left in the chapter... She was at the table closest to the door, though, so when the bell jingled, she looked up automatically. She closed her book with a sigh, smiling at the newcomer.

“Hello Sir,” she greeted him, standing and tucking her book under her arm. “Welcome to Deja Brew. How can I help you?”
