#3629 - Calytrix fraseri - Pink Summer Starflower

First formally described in 1834 by Allan Cunningham, who I don't believe I've mentioned before, in the journal Botanical Magazine, from specimens collected by Charles Fraser near the Swan River. Cunningham named it after him. Cunningham was an English botanist and explorer, primarily known for his expeditions into areas of eastern Australia as-yet unblighted by Europeans, to collect plants and report on the suitability of the land for grazing purposes. Fraser (or Frazer or Frazier) was Colonial Botanist of New South Wales from 1821 to 1831, and tasked to do mostly the same work over here in WA.

Pink Summer Calytrix grows on sandplains, coastal dunes and granite outcrops from about 500km north of Perth, and south to Bunbury and inland as far as Kondinin. It rarely reachs 1m in height.
