Countdown to Festival Season: Camden Rocks Fest is back!

Described as “London’s biggest rock n’ roll day-er of the year,” Camden Rocks Festival has been blowing out the eardrums of Camden Town concertgoers since 2009 and this year’s festival line up is shaping up to be the biggest yet.  In fact, I’m not sure how much smaller the print can feasibly get on the gig flyer. Check out the video below for the highlight's of last years festival.

What’s cool about Camden Rocks Festival is that they allow music fans to submit recommendations of bands they want to see on the festival line up.  No matter how unknown your band is, you could potentially be sharing the bill with Funeral for a Friend, Menswear, Ginger Wildheart, my personal favourite act on the bill, prog/punk, stoner rockers And you will Know us by the Trail of Dead (check out a previous walloh article on ‘Trail of Dead’) as well as a secret headliner who has yet to be announced.

Personally, I’m crossing my fingers for some kind of Tom DeLonge solo set spent ranting about the other 2/3 of Blink-182 and proof of alien life on Earth. Hey, I can dream.

May 30th does seem far off.  You may be asking yourself, why write an article about a festival that isn’t even happening for another three months?  Well, besides buying tickets to the event, your band or your friend’s bands still have time to get in on it.

You can submit your band or any band you’d like to see up there via the Camden Rocks Facebook Submission form.  From there, a vote will be held to pick out the best musicians from the deluge of submissions they’re expecting to receive.  Voting begins soon!  To quote Camden Rocks, “The more submissions, the better the chance!”  Traditionally, most acts at Camden Rocks are loud, guitar driven bands but even if you’re not into making that kind of sound, it’s still worth a shot.

With two hundred plus bands at twenty venues in Camden and such a short time to see them all, starting from noon (and probably die trying) the event is sure to sell out.  It certainly did last year so don’t put this one off.  Head over to the Camden Rocks Facebook  page to grab your tickets.
