Marina was in a panic, she fucked up, now Vixul had disappeared! Archer was scouring the city while Waves made a trip to octo canyon. Eight was on her way to the metro, while Marina was looking for any way to find her. It wasn’t working.
Evangeline was staying up late that night, trying to catch up on the work she missed while recovering. Sure she hadn’t slept for a while, but sleep was for the weak! Besides, they had been having nightmares. Eva had actually finished their work already, and was headed home when they bumped into a certain someone.
Eva stumbled as they knocked into Vixul, turning around to look at her she was panicked, panting and slightly shaking. “Oh! Hey! Are you alr-'' Said Eva, but that’s all they could get out before Vixul turned and ran. Eva stood there dumbfounded for a moment before pursuing.
Vixul ran through the city, less to shake a pursuer it seemed, and more simply to run for runnings sake. Luckily, Eva could keep up. They ran, darting from block to block keeping chase. Soon they were past the city, on there way to Camp Triggerfish. Or what was left of it.
Triggerfish was one of the first major damages from the Inkursion. Appearing suddenly the creature had done a lot of damage, and hurt just as many. It was a devastating attack that no inkling or octoling hoped to see again. Unfortunately, a few weeks later it happened again. But this time, the mysterious Agent V had joined Splatoon to assist.
Come to think of it, that’s when Vixul showed up. . .
The place was cordoned off, no-one could get in. Naturally that didn’t stop many cephalos, Vixul included. Eva followed her. After some tricky moving to get passed the broken bridges and pillars, they found her sitting on top of what remained of one of the towers. Eva walked up next to her and sat down.
It was a few minutes, hours even before Vixul spoke up. When she did, it was a soft, shaky voice. Like you were just yelled at by your parents.
“Why’d you follow me?”
“I was worried, you looked worried, maybe someone was chasing you.” She shrugged, trying to lighten the mood. “But I guess it was only me.”
Vixul didn’t respond, she simply sighed and looked ahead. It was another few minutes before Eva spoke up. “What’s wrong?”
Vixul sighed again. “I don't belong here.”
“Whatcha mean? I think you’re pretty cool.”
Vixul shook her head. “I don't mean that…”
Vixul kept silent for a minute, pondering why she should trust this octo that she only met a week ago. She said to herself that if the secret got out, she wouldn’t be here much longer anyways. “I’m from another world.”
It was a simple sentence, one that would usually prompt a “You’re a liar” or “Funny joke” or “Do you need a hospital.” But to Vixuls surprise, Evas response was much more tame.
“Oh? Which one?”
There was a surprising silence for a moment before Vixul turned to Eva, no response, just a confused look that said “What?”
Vixul took a moment before talking slowly, still skeptical. “Uuh, Pokemon?”
Eva just smiled, “Really? What’s your story?”
Vixul looked at her for another moment before shaking her head and looking away. “You don't believe me.”
“Actually.” Eva put a hand on Vixuls shoulder. “I could hear you when I was sick. You didn't sound like a normal inkling. Whos to say you’re not?”
Vixul sat there for even longer, eventually she did two things. The first, she undid her bandage over her eye, revealing the crystal the clung there. The second, she took out her notebook. Eva eyed the crystal, they had wondered why she wore that bandage. It was, weirdly beautiful.
Vixul opened her notebook, it was filled with drawing upon drawing of, well, other worlds. Some Eva recognised from Media, Vulpixes from Pokemon, Guardians from Zelda, one page was full of alchemical formulae that reminded her of, some anime. And Wait was that Joestar?
“I try and draw everything I see, so I can remember it. She continued to flick through, pointing out some of the drawings. Her sister, mom, boyfriend (eva pouted at that), and many more. “I got pictures on my phone too.”
Vixul nodded, pulling out her phone and showing Eva the stunning panoramic photos of mountaintops and jungles, of strange, wondrous places. It was, well, amazing.
“Do you go home often?” It was an innocent question, one that came in the middle of looking through a picture of an old Sheikah ruin. Vixul stopped, putting her phone and pouted, looking away. That look was all Eva needed to know that the reason she was here was not good.
“It’s gone, all gone. I can’t go back.”
