What exactly is Weeping Ink Syndrome? it seems really underdocumented...
is it linked to the parasite?
It is. There's almost zero documentation on it due to most cases being fatal.
In short, Weeping Ink Syndrome, or WIS, is a disease caused by a waterborne parasite that hosts on Inkfish. Most people get it through GrizzCo work, due to the low safety protocol and high water exposure.
The parasite attaches to the host's nervous system and manipulates their instincts. Main symptoms include personality changes, fascination with water, twitching, lack of pain and/or survival instinct, and excretion of ink from the eyes, mouth, and nose– Hence the "Weeping Ink."
WIS is not actively contagious. The goal of the parasite is to lead the Inkfish to water, so the host will die and the parasite can spread. There's a lot of fearmongering about WIS holders, but as long as we're alive we're safe to be around. Aggression can be a symptom, but attacks are incredibly rare.
There's no cure for WIS at the moment. The parasite is aggressive and resistant to most modern antiparasitics. There are some medications that can ease symptoms, but most of them are still experimental.
WIS has a very high mortality rate. Most people don't think anything of it until it's too late. If you notice any of the symptoms in yourself or a loved one, consult a medical professional immediately. It's important to note that most studies are conducted on adult male Inklings, and symptoms may present differently in children, females, and other inkfish.

Beautiful evening in the Splatlands
Honestly, performing at the Grand Festival Grounds was truly a wonderful experience. Though it was different from the usual salty seas we’re used to, the evening sky was lovely & the Festival Grounds weren’t to far from the Bay. It was an honor to preform for such a lively crowd as well!
We hope everyone has a wonderful pride month🏳️🌈, & remember

what if i do something funny where i make my alt account thing on here (used to be my cake bfdi roleplay acc, im not really into bfdi anymore) into a splatoon oc blog where i just talk about life in funky way
kinda like that one community on here but i just roleplay as a octoling or something that sounds fun
debating as i am quite lazy though it is a cool idea
Grizzco is absolutely despicable towards employees and the creatures it kills. Rumor has it that someone from the @humboldt-unit in splatsville got severely injured this big run due to the companies recklessness.
Look at the smallfry I found. I wish I knew how to communicate with the creature. It likely doesn’t understand how dangerous it is to be so close to the building.
Staring up at the chopper… not knowing where it’s going. Not knowing that it’s bringing people to slaughter its kind.
Look at how the posters depict its kind. Feral, terrifying beasts. They are animals we must watch over. Poor thing probably doesn’t even understand what its kind has done wrong. Whoever’s little buddy or pet needs to be picked up immediately! I made sure to give it some treats. Stay safe little guy
(Hey, little disclaimer. This is just a roleplay post. I am not an octoling in real life. I am only posting this in the non-splat IRL splatoon group because I want y’all to see the art that I made.)
I’m back, and better than ever. So is my brother ;).
I was busy illegally flying to a remote location of the world to collect information on a special specific conspiracy that I WILL get around to posting about. The book I’m reading to him in the image is a record of some of the evidence.
He’s not sure if it will work out.
People who didn’t grow up on the surface: how did you react the first time you saw snow?
tfw I try to make plans, but I'm constantly bouncing between splatsville and inkopolis (and I rarely get any free time anyways) #myjob
