Matt, setting atmosphere: All sense of night and day has been taken from you. You don't know where you're going, where you are, or when you are. Your understanding of the world begins to slip, and you find yourself adrift in darkness-
Caleb: It's 2:00 and we are headed North East.
A sprinkle appreciation post, immortal may he be.

Art by me:]
First drawing of 2026! (and first time drawing any character from the Mighty Nein btw)
Anyway, a pal needed a reminder that the magic rules between D&D and Pathfinder are different, so I was happy to oblige with a reminder in the form of some professor Widogast stickers (the version I'm printing has text in german with the reminder btw).
just wanna highlight what i think was a masterful metaphor/piece of wisdom from beau/marisha in episode 38 (around min 47). so, for context, caleb brought his concerns about fjord's secret keeping to beau, and at the time beau kinda brushed caleb off in her rough, brash way, and caleb seemed dejected
but later in the episode beau went to fjord and was like, hey did you ever read scary stories or tell ghost stories with your friends as a kid? and when fjord's like yeah sure, beau's like, "well, you know that point when the narrator stops and leaves it to your imagination? and how whatever you think up is somehow scarier than anything the narrator could have described?"
and the conversation goes on from there with beau basically being like, yeah when you keep shit from us, and you're all shifty, people are going to assume the worst. and not only is it (imo) a really good metaphor for what's happening, and one i've never seen before, but i think it's also a perfect example of beau's wisdom as a monk blending with her background
like beau is a young twenty-something. yeah, she dabbled in the criminal underbelly and got dragged away to become a monk at a very young age, but she's still a twenty-something woman who has not had as many experiences as most of her group. she's not as sheltered as jester was obviously, but she is really young, and she only has so many experiences to draw on, but she's also supposed to be this super wise monk. ofc stats don't necessarily directly translate to character RP but i just mean--
i think this little conversation is a perfect example of who beau is. starting with how she deals with caleb's concerns--she brushes them off, because she doesn't want caleb's worries to fester, and her manner makes it seem like she's dismissing them altogether, but she still brings them to fjord because she wants to solve the root of the problem. and the way she explains it is very much a young woman relating a somewhat complicated social situation to a familiar thing from her youth. it's wisdom packaged in familiarity. it demonstrates her cleverness and ability to assess situations, and reflects her developing social skills and how she's really trying to keep this group together and functional.
i just think it was a perfect moment and i just wanted to highlight that :))
critical role spoiler:
im still catching up, but with each new campaign, i manage to find spoilers of the one party member that dies. i then spend twenty minutes crying, knowing that the time i have with them is limited and that their death is yet to come.
