A 6 + 1 with six of Ilya's experiences with Canadian music, and one experience with Russian music. Featuring a LOT of Canada-isms.
Ilya scurries his way back to his seat at Shane’s side, feeling suddenly unsafe in this Ottawa bar. Canadians are never this loud outside of the rink or a riot. And never so organized as it is right now. Literally everyone has stopped their conversations to sing-shout this song.
Shane, at least, is immune to whatever mass psychosis is happening right now. Though he doesn’t seem shocked or even bewildered by what’s going on around them.
“What the fuck is this?” Ilya asks, putting Shane’s ginger ale down in front of him. He’s momentarily distracted from his terror by a drop of spilled ginger ale running down his finger; he holds it to Shane’s mouth to lick clean. Shane rolls his eyes at Ilya, then, tragically, wipes the finger clean with a napkin. “Spoilsport,” Ilya pouts.
“It’s Barrett’s Privateers,” Shane says, as if that in any way explains what the fuck is happening in this bar right now.
They’re like pod people. Or like a hive mind from a scary alien invasion movie.
“What about Barrett’s dick?”
