You don’t find much electronic tape-loop and sampling music before Holger Czukay. The lyrical sampling is a Vietnamese lullaby, performed by Ho Ru Con.

Can member and bassman Holger Czukay teamed up with producer Rolf Dammers a few months after the forming of that influential group to record a solo album, focusing on a hybrid of ambient soundspaces, musicological sampling, and a sort of Steve Reich-like loop system. "Boat-Woman-Song" means to preserve the traditional singing of two Vietnamese peasants, and depending on your view of their singing, will either be beautiful or discordant; it certainly isn't ambient you can put on and ignore.
