An acquainted gifted me some left-over wax and now I have made several candles, with wooden wicks and recycled glass jars. And there is even wax left for some more, but first, I need more glass jars. 😊
And this is how I make the candles:
I heat water in an old pot (do not boil). I heat the wax in a water bath, in a metal bowl with a handle. When the wax has become liquid, I remove any remaining wicks with tweezers.
Then I put the wooden wicks into small metal holders (which are specifically made for these wicks and are typically sold in a set with them) and place them in the jars. This also works without gluing them in place.
Then I simply pour the wax into the jars, moving the wicks to the center of the jar if necessary.
When the wax has dried, I fill in any cavities with more liquid wax.
It is best to leave the candles to dry overnight or for several hours.
Please do not be surprised: Wooden wicks crackle or creak slightly when they burn. This is normal and harmless.
