My boyfriend gave me two of those Japanese candy kits and I made the sushi one just now.

Got to say, I’m rather impressed. It was fun, pretty easy, and best of all very tasty. The “rice” was sort of bubblegum flavored, and the other gummies were fruit flavored. Least favorite part eating wise was the “seaweed”. The texture didn’t mesh well. My favorite part was, of course, making the “fish eggs”!

DIY Candy - Kracie Happy Kitchen Donuts

I recently bought a few DIY Candy kits from Japan and thought I would record how-to videos while I made them. Here is the first one I made, you can watch the video below!

This kit was fun to make, and the donuts were really cute! The only downside was they really didn't taste very nice! The strawberry icing was lovely, but the sort of 'jelly-like' texture of the no-bake donuts was a bit off-putting!

Just realized, after almost typing out a multi-paragraph response to a facebook comment, that Japanese candy kits are becoming a special interest. Like, I could talk about those things for a while, want to research different versions, want to order new kinds that we haven’t tried, even tried the American versions which are kind of ok, could talk for a while about the difference between American versions and Japanese versions.
