Headcanon Prompt Meme || Accepting

19: Summer

Cairis acknowledges that summer exists, but she’s not fond of heat and humidity.  So far as she’s concerned, summer has to happen so that autumn can follow which makes her happy for two reasons: 1) Her birthday falls within autumn and 2) no heat and humidity.  Perfect weather.

Although, she will admit that she likes summer in that, if she’s in a location that allows for it, she can wear reduced clothing which will expose her fur pattern.  She’s vain about her fur pattern and likes showing it off.

27: Sleep

Cairis is not a graceful sleeper.  She shifts and moves about in her sleep to the point she can annoy someone who shares a bunk with her.  More often than not, she ends up face-down in her sleep.  She also prefers to sleep with as little on as possible (though she recognizes that it means she might wind up in an embarrassing situation in the event of an emergency that requires immediate evacuation or relocation) but not entirely naked.

She’s a lucid dreamer; able to direct her dreams - which she doesn’t know what it’s called; only that she can do it.  For the most part, she prefers to let her dreams just happen, but if a nightmare is especially emotionally taxing, she’ll “change the channel,” so to speak.

As the Christmas season rolls around (or what the team generally assumes is Christmas time), they have a small get together to relax and unwind in the midst of war. Allura is confused by the traditions that the humans keep and Kolivan is right there with her.

Calming music played over the speakers that Pidge had set up, playing tunes that Allura had never heard before, almost soothing her soul as she watched the other Paladins relaxing and generally having a good time in the lounge. There was a table set up with various finger foods, lights hung about the room, and even a fake tree set up in the middle of the room with decorations all over.

She didn’t really understand the reason for all of this, but if it made the others happy, she wasn’t going to complain. If anything, she wanted to understand, wanted to know what was going on, but the humans (and half-human in Keith’s case) were so happy and relaxed, she didn’t really want to interrupt them to ask what the meaning was. So, instead, she just watched them all with a soft, amused expression, leaning against the wall and just taking in the surroundings, enjoying the general feeling of peace and love that radiated from the Paladins -- reminded that, really, they were still just children (aside from Shiro, though even he seemed more relaxed and almost childish, too).

However, she wasn’t alone in her observations of the human holiday and how it affected them. Kolivan was watching as well, looking about as stoic as he usually did, arms crossed and carefully watching the younger lot as they laughed and enjoyed one another’s company. They might be in the midst of what seemed to be a never ending war, but even Allura could now see the merits in taking some downtime occasionally, instead of pushing forward with the intensity she had initially after waking from the cryopod.

“Princess,” Kolivan’s voice rumbled softly beside her, causing the Altean to look over at the Galra with a small smile. “I think we ought to go and discuss the intel I brought while the others are busy.” Even in such happy surroundings, he seemed to be focused on business.

“Right, let’s go to the bridge.” She let out a soft sigh as she pushed herself away from the wall, casting a glance at the Paladins before moving to go out the door. However, as the two went to leave, they heard a yell from behind them, causing both to turn and look back while standing in the doorway.

The sound had been, of course, Lance -- but rather than something awful as she had halfway expected, Lance had his usual happy expression on his face. “Hey, guys, look, Allura and Kolivan are under the mistletoe!” The other Paladins turned to look at the pair, who were indeed standing beneath some sort of...plant?

“What is a missle toe?” Allura’s voice was calm, while also internally panicking slightly. That sounded a bit like a weapon -- missiles were weapons! -- but Lance looked happy, if not amused, and the others looked not much different from him.

“Mistletoe is a plant from Earth,” Pidge supplied helpfully. “It’s a Christmas tradition, whenever people are under it together, that they have to kiss! You two wouldn’t deny tradition, would you?”

“That’s...certainly an odd tradition,” Allura said softly, her cheeks flushing slightly as her gaze moved upward to look at Kolivan, gaging his reaction. He appeared as stoic as ever, the only thing different being a single raised brow, turning his head to look down at Allura.

“...well, tradition is important. It wouldn’t be right to deny it, hm?” His lips quirked upward slightly, reaching a large hand up to cup the side of Allura’s cheek before leaning down, pressing his lips against hers gently, lingering for a moment before he pulled back and--

--and there he went, out the doorway and headed down the hall towards the bridge.

Silence reigned in the lounge, Allura looking shocked for a moment before clearing her throat. “If you’ll excuse me, Paladins, I believe I have some things to discuss with Kolivan.” Turning on her heel, she headed for the bridge as well.

Things to discuss, indeed. Perhaps human holiday traditions weren’t entirely bad...

you almost killed me, srsly. I was on my way home, everything was ok. I got bored & decided to go over tumblr feed. Everything was still ok. Until I saw the #NOODLE: 'IF I STEP ON IT WILL IT CROAK OR SQUEAK?' moreover imagined whole scene in their actual voices. Now, a lone person seating in the end of almost-empty kinda dark bus, suddenly starts laughing aka psycho maniac, not to mention dropping the phone. Then an old lady came and asked if I needed water or medical help. You're the best :D

   “ Well, it turns out he makes a typical and disappointing ‘grunt’. But what I have found out is that when you grab and flip his little platform and he tumbles off and hits the ground, he sounds like a heavier, ‘sloshy’ version of those plastic dodgeballs you get in schools. Not what I was expecting but funnier none the less. ”

I think drawing 'furry' Keith is very fun, but if seriously, I see no point in giving him true-Galra look out of nowhere. So I'd raise my hand for a slightly purple human-Keith version, or even casual human-Keith version.

I think a lot of the art for him looking like the fluffy Galra we’ve seen is honestly cute, but at the same time there is no reason for it either. They’ve already said he’s Galran, there’s no reason to go 0 to 100. 

Unless he gets doused in quintessence and unlocks some superpowers complete with purple skin and glowing yellow eyes like early comic book radioactive waste style then, yeah, nah.

Well, she just points out the obvious stuff, don't see much trope analysis here at all. But a good one to start off for beginner online writers. Besides, no matter how we build our air castles, let's admit the Galra Empire will always be cardboard evil) it won't run over the mere 10~ potential of evilness or political accuracy because, makes no sense.

Sometimes the things that are right in front of our faces are the hardest to see and I’d ‘argue’(in that I do agree with you but maybe for a different reason) that this vid is more to point things out so that they can be thought about and discussed by the viewer rather than super in-depth analysis (something like that would have to be no less than 40 minutes and could easily go for another hour and a half), but it does cover enough to get some people to look over their own work and make an assessment to whether or not they’re truly being creative or if they’re just going by what’s familiar. 

I actually don’t have the expectation that V:LD to get all that deep. It’s a fun kid’s show and when you watch it with kids you realise it super engaging to its target audience and makes them think while entertaining them so the reality is the show is succeeding in its goal.
