okay so i decided to do some research about the use of marijuana in pregnancy/labour pains and found this gem of an article, written by Reverend Damuzi.
this article is about how a woman, called "Kelly", used marijuana to aid her in her second birth after her last pregnancy had delivered a stillborn baby because it had taken too long to deliver.
for her second birth, she decided she was going to smoke cannabis during her labor "if necessary." After days of labor, Kelley decided it was time to smoke, and here she describes the experience after:
"My birth was such a mystical experience after I smoked," she enthused. "I started doing some real breathing, joining with my birth partner. I felt my chakras align with the Great Mother and with the baby. I had a prolapsed cervical lip, and the baby was turned sideways in the birth canal. I could suddenly feel it all inside me. So I did my own surgery. I reached in and pulled the cervical lip back and it dilated within seconds."
Now, using marijuana in the labour and birthing process seems to be very beneficial to both the baby and the mother. Why is it then, that if this birth had taken place in a hospital, this mother would be arrested and possibly have her child taken away?
"The practice of drug testing pregnant moms without their consent was ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court in 2001 after shocking allegations were raised against a state hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, where non-consentual drug testing was the norm since 1989. Some moms were arrested immediately after childbirth, shackled to the table while still bleeding, and subsequently dragged off to jail."
So apparently it is wrong to use a helpful and non detrimental herb, but it is alright to use chemicals which can endanger the lives of unborn babies and the fertility of expecting mothers?
"Goodman told the horror story of Suzanne Altomare who was dosed on Cytotec without being warned of its dangers. She suffered a uterine rupture, her baby dropped into her abdomen, suffocated and was delivered brain-dead. Altomare lost both her baby and her uterus in the procedure, meaning that she would never be able to fill her loss with the birth of another child."
^okay i don't even think i need a description to go with how extremely fucked up that is.
Also, in conclusion, a test was done at some point which "proved" that "Cannababies" came out thinner and had a higher mortality rate. however, this test was done by comparing mothers in poverty who used marijuana with upper class expecting women who did not. Now obviously, whose babies will be better nourished and healthier, with or without the marijuana factor? So, this test was redone on women who were equally healthy. The only factor that was different was cannabis intake:
"...children of pot-using pregnant women were more well adjusted, better organized, had "more robust motor and autonomic systems," were less irritable, and were "more rewarding for caregivers."
this "Kelly" ladys first baby fucking died because she could not deliver it fast enough
then she smoked for her second and she mOTHER FUCKING REACHED UP HER OWN VAGINA AND DELIVERED HER OWN BABY
