Visiting Prison

“You mean they want to forgo due process… They want to forgot the laws our countries were founded on.” He scowled as he watched her. “You walk around here like a vulture, promising things you can’t guarantee. Hid me in the shadows- lock me up, wrong me by forcing me back. It won’t make any difference. I’m right.”

“You call me a vulture, but you’re the one who betrayed the laws you claim to support. You’re lucky to get even an offer of mercy. Especially from me.  You tried to kill me.” She slides her hands into her back pockets, reminding herself not to look defensive.  “If you were right, you wouldn’t be in prison.”

Peggy twisted against the ropes as she looked up at him. “You could let me loose but you’ll have to deal with me when you do.” Her gaze was heated as she looked him over.

The queen was on a rampage. And while that wasn't unusual, nor was the reason, the subject was. Another feast, with the royals of neighboring kingdoms. But, this time, it was to find an appropriate suitor for Princess Margaret. The royal families were arriving, and the princess had escaped to the orchard, and was hiding in a tree, reading her book.

Steve and Tony had never quite seen eye to eye, but slowly--very slowly--Steve had shown him that he wasn’t going anywhere and Tony had decided to keep him.  And now, Steve was the only one of the ones he’d decided to keep that he really had left to fall back on.
