i got really into the gimmick blog @cantheykillmacbeth this morning. i was gonna send something like this to them as an ask… until i learned tumblr doesn’t let sideblogs send asks (at least on mobile; maybe this is a thing on desktop idk). so i decided, screw it, i’ll do it myself. and that, of course, brings us to the main question of this post:

Could Sento or Banjou from Kamen Rider Build kill Macbeth?

Short answer: most likely, probably, and no (if you want to count him).

Long answer: Oh boy.

(Massive spoilers ahead btw. Build gets weird.)

If you don’t know, cantheykillmacbeth has three main “clauses” they use to determine if a character is immune to the prophecy of “no man of woman born” and can therefore kill Macbeth. These clauses are the Gender Clause (the character does not identify as a man), the Unconventional Birth Clause (they were born some way other than a traditional live birth; in the original story this is fulfilled via C-section but can also include hatching from an egg, asexual reproduction, or similar methods), and the Birth Parent Clause (one of their birth parents is not or does not identify as a woman).

Getting it swiftly out of the way, neither Sento nor Banjou qualify for the Gender Clause. As far as we know canonically, they are both men.

There’s definitely a case to be made, however, that Sento qualifies for the Unconventional Birth Clause. Sure, his body was conceived in a traditional pregnancy and as far as we know he was delivered normally, but even after the reveal that they’re the same person, Katsuragi Takumi and Kiryu Sento are almost always treated (and in some cases depicted) as two separate people.

In addition, it could be said that Sento, as a person, didn’t truly exist until Evolt did the instant plastic surgery thing to Katsuragi and wiped his memory. With this in mind, I feel like it’s not too far a stretch to consider that event the “birth” of Kiryu Sento. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s a pretty Unconventional Birth… Clause.

Banjou is… complicated. In the context of the story and of this question. I’m not about to do a full character dissection on my favorite canon bicon so we’ll focus on the latter.

Did you know that Banjou Ryuuga is one of the few characters in the Kamen Rider franchise that is explicitly confirmed to have been delivered via a live birth? If memory serves, we even see it in a flashback. So, that’s two out of the three clauses down… what about the third one?

Strap the fuck in. It’s about to get even weirder.

So, before he was born, Banjou’s mother worked as a security guard. While guarding a space probe that had just returned from Mars, a bit of the main villain, Evolt, snuck off the probe and… into Banjou’s mother. It then bonded with her unborn son and gave Banjou weird alien powers… plus a gestation period of two months but that’s not important. Due to Evolt being partially responsible for Banjou being born how he was, I’d say this at least should count for Birth Parent Clause.

Plus, if that’s not proof enough, we actually see a different Banjou for a minute in the show’s final episode. After the Earths of two different universes are combined (and the stage show takes place if you subscribe to that being canon) we briefly see a Banjou with black hair (the one we’ve been talking about has brown/red hair). This Banjou never encountered or bonded with Evolt due to the latter having never existed in the combined world. Meaning he is a man who was born normally (not in two months with alien powers and DNA) to a woman (and her husband), and is therefore incapable of killing Macbeth.

So, in conclusion, Sento and Banjou, AKA Kamen Riders Build and Cross-Z, could probably kill Macbeth. Sento probably has a better shot at it, and depending on which Banjou you get… maybe. Also, watch Kamen Rider Build. Or just watch Kamen Rider. There’s 50+ years of history, you’re bound to find one you like. Thanks for reading! :)
