Sun is rising on Grindelwald, Canton of Bern Switzerland. No. 45. by Izakigur Sun is rising on Grindelwald, Canton of Bern Switzerland. No. 45. "The Grindelwald-Fieschergletscher is a glacier in the Bernese Alps, Switzerland. Its section Upper Arctic Ocean gives its name to the Eismeer station on the Jungfrau Railway. The highest point of the glacier is the Mönch at 4107 m. Its lowest point is around 1600 m. It is located southeast of the Eiger and Mönch massifs and north of the connecting ridge of the Mönch and Fiescherhorn massifs. Pfaffestecki and Zäsenberg border the glacier in the east. To the north, the Grindelwald-Fiescher Glacier flows into the Lower Grindelwald Glacier. It has its origin at the summit of the Mönch and flows in a north-easterly direction between Walchergrat and Eiger-Südgrat. The smooth surface then changes into a jagged glacier break. This part is called the Upper Arctic Ocean. At its end, the Challifirn flows from the north into the Fiescher glacier. From here the glacier is divided into two parts. Below the Eiger-Mittellegigrat the surface is relatively smooth, while on the opposite side, below the Walchergrat and Fiescherwand, the fissures persist. Between Zäsenberg and the “Bim gandigen path” the glacier reaches the Lower Grindelwald glacier. The naming poses a problem. The Grindelwald-Fiescher glacier must not be confused with the Fiescher glacier on the southeast side of the Fiescherhorn-Grünhorn massif. This is the real Fiescher glacier. However, the Federal Office for Topography intends to designate the Grindelwald-Fiescher Glacier as the Arctic Ocean for the foreseeable future. " Wikipédia. https://flic.kr/p/2kZoyLp
