I will never be over Zelda Spellman crying at Tommy’s funeral. I don’t know if it was Ambrose’s question about whether mortals ever really appreciate life as they’re living it, or if she was crying because a young boy was dead, but either way, her tears hurt me to the core.

Still confused as to why Zelda lets Ambrose astral project into the mines to look for survivors when a couple episodes earlier she insisted that his soul was under the same house arrest as his body. We know that Zelda astral projects on a regular basis by herself, so why wouldn’t she do it herself, I wonder?

I know this might be a sexist/ageist explanation, but I wonder if Zelda let Ambrose do it because it would be both a physically and emotionally taxing job to astral project into the mines looking for remains? It’s possible that Zelda wouldn’t have the stomach for it, despite looking at dead bodies all the time, or that she didn’t think her soul would be limber (?) enough to navigate under the rocks...? Idk it’s just a thought, but I really would’ve thought Zelda would rather put her soul in danger than Ambrose’s...unless there was a good reason why Ambrose would be better suited to the specific nature of the projection.

CAOS Rewatch 1x8

This episode sure hits hard. I don’t even really care about Tommy as a character but the episode does a great job of showing how much the mining accident and Tommy’s death affects literally everyone in the Greendale community. The whole town shows up at the mines to help try and save the workers. No one sits idly by. Even Hilda and Zelda, who aren’t/shouldn’t be invested in mortal affairs, offer whatever comfort and support they can.

Too often I feel like tv shows write deaths just for the *angst* and never actually acknowledge that small towns are just that—small—and every single person’s life touches more than just their family.
