Hey comics nerds of the interwebs, I am trying to find pdfs of early Captain America comics, specifically the initial 1940/41 run from Captain America 1 (reprints are fine) as reference material for an essay, does anyone know where I might be able to find that?
- Rora’s big marvel comics adventure! - Part 2.1: Civil War
the short story: IT’S AMAZING. 10/10, one of the best series I’ve ever read! I highly recommend this series if you haven’t already read it!!
fair warning, besides the principle arguement of the Registration/Accords, the comics are quite different from the movie, mostly because Bucky has very little involvement in the series. But this makes the comics better in a different way - they focus primarily on the issues at hand, which is the registration, rights of freedom, characters taking sides, fighting for one’s beliefs, etc.. (I don’t think the comics or the movie is better, but rather they’re each great in a diff way.)
the comic series also strongly reinforced my loyalty to Team Cap. I still understand where Tony is coming, but Team Tony also does a lot of terrible things, plus the registration thing in the comics is much more strict and really brings forth the idea of rights of freedom and stuff.
last note - don’t be scared by the abundance of side/tie-in issues. you can easily read Civil War #1-7 and get everything you need, the main issues are the best ones anyways. the tie-in issues are pretty good too, and you can pick and choose which characters/groups interest you most. I personally read the tie-in issues of Black Panther (highly recommend), the New Avengers, Iron Man, Ms Marvel, and Captain America. if you’re not sure about the reading order for the tie-in issues, I suggest checking out this list, it’s the one I used and I found it much better than the one I found on marvel’s website.
(and if you’re thinking “how can I read all this and not break my bank??” ... Marvel Unlimited is my friend and yours. you pay $10 USD for a month’s worth of access to Marvel’s digital comics, and every single Civil War related issue is currently available through Unlimited!)
i am having an all-caps full blown meltdown about tomorrow’s cap spoilers over on twitter
how the FUCK could this be happening
