CapMetro, 2910 E 5th St., Austin, TX 78702
CapMetro is Austin’s public transit agency. The buses are wheelchair accessible, some but not all are electric. The fare is $1.25 with a daily max of $2.50. There are no free transfers.
I caught bus 20 at the Austin airport (bus 20 is the only one that goes to the airport) and it was about 40 – 50 minutes to travel downtown (about 11 miles). An Uber fare is about $15. The bus departed every 15 minutes.
Most buses announce stops but this didn’t always happen. The bus stops are clearly labeled and you can scan the QR code for real time transit arrival times. It felt like it took 10 minutes to travel one mile, so it takes quite some time to get anywhere.
The bus looks like a typical city bus.
Pay using exact change or with Umo app. There is also a reloadable fare card.
