okay so basically i love the hawks bc they can pretty much fake date in any time period- like imagine edith and joe met bc she was a nightclub singer (bc technically her 20s incarnation was shiela carr) and she always gets too much attention from the wrong people at one night carter is like, okay hi please fuck off from my girlfriend, and internally kendra is like- im sorry girlfriend, but it works, and after she gives him a hard time for it because like, that’s them, he sort of basically agrees to be her fake boyfriend and protect her and keeps showing up and saying he’s her boyfriend and roughing up people that get too close to her until kendra is like- oh man i think i’m actually super into you? and carter is like, this is fantastic, my pants are already off
