Did you ever have players go outside new Capenna in any of your games?
I have never gotten to DM New Capenna yet, as my "home" setting when I do DM is New Phyrexia, but if I ever were to DM New Capenna (which I very much want to!) I would definitely have the characters go outside the city! In fact, the campaign would most likely be about characters who have always lived outside of the city. I find the outside of the city such a compelling RPG setting, rooting it in some classic medieval-style fantasy while exploring the history of Capenna and the feelings of conflict, resentment, or envy that might surround the fact that these people were never saved when the rest fled into the city.
For both Capennans and Phyrexians, there is a deep angst about being left behind and having to still live amongst the ghosts of a past that everyone else has seemingly forgotten, and that's a lot more compelling to me personally than the standard New Capenna mafia plotlines. I can also reuse much of my Phyrexian homebrew material that way, even though the Phyrexian lineages that inhabit Capenna are little-known and likely quite different from New Phyrexians! Is this how I end up researching medieval torture devices?
