OMG am I not dreaming? how do I order this? could you helped me ordering this while I going to steal some money in the bank? ヽ(^。^)ノ joke aside, I'm really thinking hard on whether to buy this or not. 8800yen is not small (TдT)
I can help order one for you, yes, through my SASerivce listed to the side of my blog. I just pre-ordered my Maeno Tomoaki copy today actually! Note that the release is not scheduled until February 2014, if there are not any delays in production.
It is definitely NOT cheap for the actual product you get. The alarm clock itself is... less than what you'd expect for that price. I don't actually USE my alarm clock. I transferred the mp3 files on it to my computer and put it back in the box, where it now sits on my shelf with my otome collection.
Also, the tracks range in length from 17-34 seconds with 18 total. There are 5 variations for each character by default which include the themes; spring, summer, fall, winter, and year-round. Multiply that times the 3 different character options portrayed by the seiyuu, you end up with 15 actual alarms. The last 3 tracks in my Morikawa Toshiyuki set are 30 second long situations giving you a total of about 8 minutes of your bias waking you up in 15 different ways.
There is something though that has always kind of bothered me when sitting and seriously listening to the alarms. The names are recorded SEPARATELY and placed into the "empty spaces" in the dialog where the name is used. So some of the tracks have this somewhat normal speaking dialog and then a really HAPPY way of saying your name suddenly. Perhaps it was just what they did with Morikawa, I'm not sure, but it did confuse me at first. Regardless of this I didn't hate what I got. What I did, though, to make it worth the price PERSONALLY was I edited the mp3s by cutting out my name and piecing it back together into my own edited "ringtone" for my cellphone where Morikawa is literally just calling my name in 3 different ways.
Morikawa Toshiyuki's alarm clock, using my chosen name, has each character calling you with a slightly different suffix. His butler character used "-sama", the instructor used "-chan", and his news reporter character didn't use a suffix at all. So I pieced it in such a way that he gradually became louder and seemingly more frustrated/genki as he called my name... It certainly wakes me up in the morning, that's for sure! I always have to dash for the snooze button before he gets to the "Mei-chan!" at the end because it's so loud and genki;;; I prefer the "Mei-sama" or "Mei" personally LOL I've also made it my general ringtone on my phone and I have had no regrets..... but a few half-dozen close calls;;; LONG STORY.
So yes, it is definitely something you should think seriously about. If it's a bias, I'm sure you won't be upset by what you get. But if you're expecting a gold plated alarm clock with 30 hours of audio, then I think you should just hold off until the seiyuus next drama CD release;;; I hope this helps you or anyone else who was interested in these alarm clocks.
Last reminder, DEADLINE FOR PERSONALIZED NAMES (names not on the Japanese default name list) FOR MAENO TOMOAKI IS DECEMBER 10th~!!!
