Old art that pieces of are scattered around this blog as wips lol, I'm already planning on redrawing them all anyways since some of these are outdated (plus I still never finished their brothers </3)

I think whenever I can finally start working on this again I'll also include a bunch of others I hadn't wanted to at the time (plus a handful of new guys). It'll be nice to have references for my guys, even if they're just sketchy

Also: height chart w/ added gradient for visual clarity, starting w/ Dos as my shortest Papyrus at 6'3 and ending w/ Dusk, my sort of arguably tallest Papyrus as 11'4 <3

Apologies for the wait! I hope you've slept several times since this, and I'm bundling all of the answers together because, for whatever reason, two of the three asks are broken </3 that being said...

The first is about how Rus, Edge, and Stretch show affection as Besties <3

Between Rus and Stretch, the way Rus shows affection is predominantly just by including him. He doesn't usually pressure Stretch to actually participate in things so much as just insist he’s present, and usually respecting any times Stretch turns him down. He also tries to encourage him to pursue his interests more, and will even make plans based on them to make him feel less "exposed" than if he simply tried doing whatever it is on his own.

As for Stretch, he’s a lot like a cat in many ways. This includes Just Being There as a form of company/affection, and will regularly just hang around Rus as a way to show appreciation for his company. He also eventually gained a habit of picking up some candy or dessert he knows Rus will like if he expects to see him soon, since Rus doesn't typically think to buy that sort of thing for himself despite liking it almost as much as Stretch.

Essentially, they just try to make each other feel considered, and really enjoy spending casual time together. Neither are particularly physically affectionate, but they're not averse either so if they fall asleep near one another they may wind up in a merged puddle of lanky limbs.

Between Rus and Edge, they have a much more...direct relationship, in a way. They have more open communication with each other than anyone else, so a lot of how they show affection to each other is kind of rooted in comfort. They mostly just act as balms to old wounds for the other, by listening, giving room to vent, doing something together either wouldn't feel comfortable doing alone, even occasionally physical comfort.

Rus is very vocally encouraging, and pushes Edge to challenge his own view of himself, while Edge is the ever aggressive mother hen who challenges Rus's own poor self care habits as well.

Between Edge and Stretch, it's sort of some combination of their above shows for Rus as well as middle grounds where those methods wouldn't apply so well. Edge knows Stretch doesn't respond well to challenge, and thusly tries to be more subtle in his efforts to remind Stretch to take better care of himself, as well as supplying tools he may need to do so (ie bringing him meals if he knows he’s Going Through It atm, "forcing" him to meet up with him if he hasn't left the house in a while, exasperatedly asking if he spoken to his therapist recently if he looks more sleepless than usual).

And likewise Stretch knows Edge is frankly terrible as accepting gifts or casual company, so he'll offer other sorts of reminders, or find excuses, like stopping by to grab lunch together if he was by Edge's workplace for his own thing that day, or getting more into some interest of Edge's to encourage him to talk to Stretch about it.

They have to be a bit more roundabout with each other than Rus due to their own individual Issues, but it's no less appreciated.

As for the next question (about considering them getting high together), I do kinda have to preface this by saying I've literally never even been around someone while they're high before, so my perspective on this is a bit skewed. Most of my understanding of weed have been formed by Media and Internet so this will kind of just be geared towards Any sort of thing that might make them in an Altered State (high, drunk, sleep deprived, etc.)

I can 100% imagine them having strange and also very deep conversations while Influenced, but I do also feel like it might not really bring that much catharsis. I think Stretch is the type to get too deep and start having a panic attack or other sort of spiral because of it, while Edge would be likely to just get Really Depressed and quiet, and Rus, well, similar to Stretch, but less a spiral, more just...wired.

I feel like there's kind of...too much going on there, too much behind the curtain, too much repressed, ignored, buried for any sort of conversation brought about under the influence of something else to cause anything but Stress, and then Regret later once Back About Themselves.

Not to say it wouldn't probably usually just be funny and ridiculous! But idk, they all have a lot of trauma and control issues and I don't think that bodes well for "drunken confession" type scenarios 😔

That being said! And to answer the third, I think if they were drunk together they would immediately start planning and executing the biggest, most insane puzzle imaginable that would leave the city in ruins and the survivors wondering where society went so wrong to allow such an atrocity to befall them. /hj

But I do think they would at least Start the puzzle. And it would be exactly as insane and deadly as you'd expect <3 OR they'd get caught up in someone else's plot which could take them who knows where...

It's also sooo crazy you asked this, I hadn't known it was cat day, but for whatever reason last night compelled me to go back to trying to figure out how to draw Leopard!Edge!!! Which, I don't think I have ever given context for here!

A few months back I was like "what if...kitties." and picked out a handful of Big Cats to match to my interps of the main Papyri! And a few sanses but this ain't abt them /silly

Normally I'm a bit of a stickler for the "they're all Papyrus so they'd all be the same type of cat and it wouldn't make sense if they weren't, or at least in the same family", but I wanted them to have more unique designs from each other, and I also focused predominantly on African wild cats, so some might not be the best fits since I didn't get too into researching before I got distracted by other things lol

That being said!! For now at least,

Rus as a Golden Cat, Stretch as a Serval, and Edge as a Leopard! A few others I've rotated but am less certain of: Lace as a Cheetah, Boss as an Amur Tiger, Ghost as a Puma, Copper as a Caracal, and Dos as a Clouded Leopard :*)

I'm not entirely sure if the second question is correlated to them being cats or just in general, so I will answer it generally, I hope that works regardless 🙏 (then again I'm not sure why being cat furry versions of themselves would change the preference..?)

First, do they eat any meat regardless?

Hmm I just realized there are NO swaps in the actively enjoys meat category. Huh. Actually, I have this one sometimes (very rarely lol) hc that, while monsters can eat some human foods, they can't really handle any meat/makes them sick...except for monsters from Fell Type undergrounds.

So in MV settings, it comes as a shock to all parties that Non-Fell monsters straight up cant "digest" meat, but Fell monsters can. It's a very silly hc and tied to similar ideas I have on how the horrors work, but that! Is besides the point! It's clearly coloured how I see their relationships to meat anyways haha

As for what the enjoyers prefer, I feel like generally, for most of them, there might be an overall preference for red meat, though I think Hawk, Lace, Dos, Void, and Spice would all also like at least some seafood almost if not just as much!

I think things like Pork and Poultry would usually lag behind in favorites, though I think for the more indifferent crew, most of the SF types would prefer things like deli meats, jerky, eggs, yk? While the rest would just view meat as just another food option, easily just as happy to go w/o as well.

Plus I feel like some of the Fell boys who partake also enjoy the flex of being really good at cooking meat, which can be a struggle for some lol

☀️ (sun) - What’s your character like at their best?

Hmmm, a very interesting one for Boss. I swear I'm not trying to be pedantic, but that largely depends on definition of 'best'. His idea of best? Snare's? Morally? Happiest?

I guess, in a general like, daily life sense, when all is going well and he’s at the top of his game, he's very...relaxed, seeming. Everything in his life is sort of like clockwork, it's down to a science, everything in its place how it should be, his own role etched out perfectly for him to step into.

With everything functioning so smoothly, he'd just go about business as usual, but he'd have a flow about him. Casual almost, calm, a little charming. He keeps up on work, exercise, socializing, "sleep", incredibly efficient and seemingly unfazed by any roadblocks that arise.

Really, he’s an unemotional guy, and that sort of 'just right' contentment is predominately what he and Snare strive for. Conflict or unexpected changes are just a headache more than anything, and it's especially a pain in his neck when it's a big enough deal he has to handle it publicly.

At his best, he’s unfailingly efficient, levelheaded, and well kempt.

But that's far from his own idea of best, and even farther still from his happiest. He’s incredibly smart, for better and for worse, and that means he gets bored very incredibly easily. That clashes pretty hard with being a mob boss though, because the only place he can channel it is work, and they're not usually the ones who stir up trouble of their own volition, never mind he wouldn't enjoy that anyway.

Snare keeps that in check, being the main plan guy and all, and Boss has definitely gotten a better handle on it as he's gotten older, but this poor dude is like a captive tiger pacing his enclosure. The guy needs some enrichment. That isn't crime.

🌻 (sunflower) - What’s something your character has grown out of? Did it happen gradually or was it a drastic change? What caused this shift?

When Edge was little, he was actually entirely nonverbal! I always like to imagine most Papyri are quiet when very young, and took a while before their first words, but few to the same degree.

Id say it was both gradual and drastic, as he started offering a few sparse words to Red when he was around 6-9, but once they were on their own, there was more pressure to "act normal", so he wound up forcing himself to verbally communicate more frequently than he would've chosen.

Whiiich also sort of answers the next part! It was mostly pressure from "the outside world" (the rest of the underground). Pretty much anything can be perceived as a weakness, and since "quiet" reads more as "shy" for a child/teen, Red discouraged Edge from communicating predominantly in Hands.

That! Depends on circumstance :*) As a first time greeting from a new person, I'd imagine most of them would be at least slightly put off. Rus and Stretch would just sort of pat their back until released, while Edge would pause, but if not released quickly, place a hand on their shoulder to lightly push them off with a disgusted expression and sharp comment.

But! I suspect that isn't what you actually care to know so I won't get into details for the rest haha

If the circumstances were someone they are both familiar with and fond of:

For the most part, I imagine Papyri are fond of hugs (and many of the non-Tale are secretly very big snuggle bugs) so I think with someone they know they'd be usually very happy to have a hug, or would be happy to provide one themselves :*)
