Spot of Tea || Captain Explorer
There weren’t nerves involved in meeting one Jane Porter for tea at Hatters. Don’t be ridiculous. The notion of meeting someone yet again in a non alternative universe setting whom you had carried on a conversation for months and being trepidatious was absolutely ludicrous. She’d fought pirates (although that hadn’t ended well) and sailed through the darkest of stormy nights filled with tempests one couldn’t imagine without having being there. And she was nervous over meeting someone as if she were on Tremblr or whatever those blasted dating apps were and all that nonsense. This was not a date. It was tea. And perhaps that’s what made things all the more foreboding.
Amelia could woo. She had every tool in her arsenal to do so, but to make a friend? That came at a much higher price where effort was concerned. She was attractive, but that didn’t bring you friends. She wasn’t deaf, she knew the comments that she was “abrasive” and “harsh” and that she wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Hopefully, she was the right pairing for Jane. Not that it mattered to her of course, she’d done well with the small circle she had, though talking to Jane throughout the last few months had made her realize that Jane could play an integral section of curve in the circle, so maybe she’d be rather disappointed if things didn’t go swimmingly.
She sat at a table in Hatters near the window, her cup of piping hot tea on the table as she stirred the honey she’d just poured into it and looked out the window as steam drifted up out of the cup, getting lost in her thoughts of things she’d never bothered trifling with before. This town had certainly caused a change in her.
