Hey! I'm incredibly late but I wanted to thank you for being the *only* one to make ferrcob fanart. your style is simply wonderful, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't what pushed me to finally buy the callisto protocol <3
Glad you like it!
And I mean yeah! These two deserve a lot more love! Shame there isn't more arts, so I'll add another one today 😌
I have this fic idea for callisto protocol ( i think the game was shit but it had so much potential!!) ive been sitting with for a long time. Of captain ferris x reader slow burn fic, idk if im gonna write it or when, i only wrote the start of it sorta. Still gotta continue and redraft my sara ryder x reyes vidal fic 😂 but this is what i had in mind:
The reader is another officer in the prison, used to be Ferris's direct but got moved to someone else so he's no longer in charge of you but he still acts like it. Its the day it starts the break out, and reader needs some paperwork signed from him, some authorization or something and after he tries to act all tough, he says its in the main watchtower.
So you go to there looking for it, then all hell breaks looks. You can hear it on the comms, screams and yells and then Ferris gets through the noise and tells you to lock everything down.
Later on, you have to leave the tower, something else tries to get in and you can't stay there. While you're on the run looking for supplies and somewhere safe in the prison, you meet up with Ferris and you both are now roaming this prison trying tk survive. You encounter prisoners too who try to form a truce and stuff, before you tlak to them you both were already scoping them out. You learn your actions are different from his, hes become a more cut and dry, black and white sort of person but the more you both talk and question intention and the goal of actions, you realise his outlook on life is more grim and he's like this way cause of working here for so long. Past colleagues situations and upper command type of shit.
Theres a scene that happens when they catch up to a few other surviving colleagues, but those monsters find them and the crew including reader and ferris are running to safety when ferris is knocked out trying to protect the reader. Reader ends up using those gravity glove things, only one, to pull yourself across the floor while having an arm secure around ferris, dragging him along with you fast while a horde is chasing you dpwn the corridor and you make it into this big cargo elevator and shoot the supports for the heavy door to drop and stop the horde. You pass out, back against the wall of the elevator, holding an unconcious ferris to you, him laying practically on top of you. He wakes up later to find him laying on you and you're still asleep, all bruised etc and he's trying to piece together what happened and figure out how to get both of you out of there.
You both end up having to split due to a situation, and eventually meet up back at the watch tower to unlock a few areas to leave the prison, but the thing that was trying to get in ( a huge monster turns out) was inside too and pushes ferris out the glass (like in the game) and you are like oh shit!!!.
You don't see ferris for a long time.
Surviving on your own, trying to find clues and ways to escape the place.
But then you do see him again.
Well first you see two guys storm into where you were hiding out, two guys with masks on and you hold them at gun point until you hear a familiar voice call your name. And you say "Ferris?!". They take off their masks and you see Jacob and Ferris.
Both of them look like they'e teamed up. Ferris takes a step towards you, as you do to him bur Jacob stands in between. You pause, confused, but Ferris grunts and turns away, starts pacing up and down the room, hand over his face and scratching the side of his neck. You see theres like small marks on his neck, like needle marks.
Jacob explains that Ferris isn't really 100%. Ferris looks kinda ill, sickly, weaker but like he's still standing strong. Just sorta...distracted. jittery, more quiet, pacing a lot. Jacob explains what happened with him and Ferris - basically rhe boss fight happened but half way through, Jacob and Mahler managed to cure him. Bring him back to human form...but he's got this rage about him. A murderous intent in him and every other emotion he has is like 10000x hieghtened and he's all over the place. They have to keep injecting him with the half baked cure until they can make a more stable one.
Ferris leans against the wall and slides down to the floor, clutching his head. You walk to him slowly to get a better look but Ferris holds a hand up, a signal for you to not move closer. He's watching you and has pain behind his intense stare.
You ask more questions and Jacob explains how Ferris turned into a huge monster and you're like WHAT??? 😂😂 Ferris looks...like...embarassed. for you to be hearing this.
Jacob then says you should know what to do in case he isn't there and Ferris is a little too far gone to inject himself. So Jacob holds Ferris when its time for another shot and you slowly insert the needle into his neck. As you do so, Jacob is explaining more about how Ferris had looked, cause its ptsd for him, and you're stuck between looking at Jacob like what the actual fuck, and Ferris's intense, ashamed? gaze at you while you have this needle in his neck.
Anyways thats all i got 😂😂😂😂
Well no actually, this is what i wrote so far, bare in mind i feel like my writing has chnaged since i wrote this 2 years ago 👀:
"How are you supposed to command an inmate if you don't know how to work a baton?!" Captain Ferris's yelling could be heard a mile away. He was standing in front of a row of terrified looking new recruits, the group stood on one of the many bridges that connected the middle tower to the rest of the prison. Poor souls, their first day unfortunately matched the day the Captain makes rounds of the prison cells. A few of them tried to avoid eye contact, either looking at their own feet or up to the very tall ceiling of the building.
You watched out the window from the staff room as the Captain chased their gazes to force them to make eye contact with his angry face and almost one of the recruits started crying.
"Sucks to be them" One of your colleagues, who was snacking on a packet of crispy space rounds, mumbled to himself between sounds of crunching.
"It happened to you too Pruitt" You retorted. You stopped watching the sad show, taking your seat across from Pruitt at the table and stealing some of his snacks.
"Well at least it was a short interaction unlike what they are suffering" He continued to eat his snacks in between talking. "Ma'am wasn't it worse for you? You were trained by him"
You sat back in your seat. "It was brutal, but everything he did prepared me to deal with the inmates this prison gets, if it wasn't for him I don't think I would've been able to last a day"
"Yeah you got a point, still I think a little less yelling would've been a nice touch" Pruitt stands, bag of crisps in hand. "Anyways I gotta go, I'm on duty in solitary, yipee for me" He sighs, heading for the exit of the staff room. He taps his keycard to open the door but looks back to you from the doorway. "Also don't forget you need that audit report from Mr Sunshine before you start your shift".
__
You grumble to yourself in disstain at the fact you forgot to get the audit report before Ferris started his rampage on the recruits. If you did beforehand, he would've been less irritating than he will be now. Especially since you need his code to get it due to restricted access in the comm centre. His little kingdom.
Walking up on the bridge to where his group stood, you procrastinated a bit. Idly stepping side to side, scratching an itch that wasn't there on your shoulder. You resulted in turning your back to them, feeling that staring will only make them more nervous.
While waiting for a quiet moment to ask your request, your eyes couldn't help but notice the sorry scene unfolding next to you. One of the recruits had a wet patch forming down the side of their pant leg. They dropped their gun and as it hit the ground, they took off running in your direction, pushing past you and knocking you into the side rail. You hear the recruits behind gasping at the situation, your hands gripped the railing as you nearly doubled over the bridge. You find your bearings eventually, the daunting drop of a view looking down from the bridge never gets any easier to look at. A seamingly endless drop down with cascading bridges connecting to the middle of the infrastructure, circles and cirles of prison cells in constant surveillance of the middle tower.
On the lower floors of the central tower, something caught your attention. Something black, maybe deep red smeared on the wall which left a trail until it vanished behind a door. You were about to call out to a guard on that floor to inform them but Captain Ferris's voice pierced through to you instead.
"You have a good reason for almost becoming a casualty?" His voice still raised, intimidation levels still turned to the max. He has his arms folded, the clip board in his hand hanging to the side, one foot tapping the floor rapidly as he waited. You glanced at the recruits, seeing the colour drained for their faces before glancing at him. He wasn't your direct captain anymore. You don't report to him anymore. Old habits die hard though so you avoid barely making eye contact before saying "I need your code".
He raises an eyebrow at you. Looking at his recruits, he chooses one of them to ask what should of been the correct way to ask a captain. "I need your code, sir!" The chosen recruit shouts, voice cracking. Leon's smug grew on his face watching the recruit and from what it seems the embarrassment grow on your face.
Found the original real world inspiration for the Eshu. The Royal Polaris out of San Diego.
The Royal Polaris is 113 feet in length and 30 feet wide. She is powered by three C18 Caterpillar engines, developing up to 2,200 Horsepower, and two 120 KW John Deere generators. The Royal Polaris has a huge bait carrying capacity of up to 590 scoops of bait and use an RSW (Refrigerated Saltwater) system to bring your fish back to San Diego in a Sushi grade condition. There is also a large spacious galley with a media center including a selection of over 1,000 movies. The Royal Polaris offers free Wi-Fi to all passengers.
Which the Cabrillio Marine Aquarium uses to run an annual trip to San Ignacio Bay.
My parents took us to San Ignacio... I think in 2006, which is how I ended up aboard.
I remember being amazed by how many people that ship held and how comfortably it did so. It's a decently sized ship but not a huge ship. It carried a lot more people than it looked like it could from dock.
I think I had already dreamed up the basic idea of Captain Ferris (I don't think I had made up her first name yet) running a time traveling evacuation / rescue ship. I think I had already decided it was solar powered and blue. And being on the Royal Polaris was just, yeah, this is it. This is her ship.
