Reference was the scene with Hennessey on the stairwell although that is not yet The Moment. I’m sorry for the sadness and suffering. There's also something Belle-and-the-Beast-y about this, now that I look at it. Maybe it’s the colour combination (yellow and blue) and the way his hair is. Well, in a way he is both. A book loving beauty and a monster branded by the civilisation... Please, do not repost.

#black sails doodle #captain grumpy ginger #he hears the news when they enter the room #I just wanted to practise drawing mcgraw with his blue uniform and auburn hair ;_;#when there's no bigger plan I tend to end up with sad things that hang in the air...#this is also a bit similar to that jack painting (yellow bg and side profile).. oh well #*inner emo kid starts to sing ''everything burns'' while painting the yellow flames*#''til everything burns / while everyone screams / burning their lies / burning my dreams''#''all of this hate / and all of this pain / I'll burn it all down / as my anger reigns / til everything burns''#although that song fits Miranda maybe more #this whole thing also lead to another art idea (that is not finished yet and won't be for a while)#I made the first sketch for this in September 2017 (this was also one of the wip slices I showed a long time ago)#I drew this way too murky at first so I had to amp up the brightness etc.#then I wanted this to BURN people's eyes muahahah #I dialed down a bit in the end tho #and ended up with bunch of different version and had to choose just one #now it might be too dark and yellow again #also I failed to draw his eyes so many times that I just closed them #and this turned from angry and shocked to sad and broken

The thieving duos getting “caught”

I. London 17XX. James remembers following the giggles back to the parlor and finding Thomas and Miranda trying on the coat he had forgotten on the chair while he had gone to inquire some tea from the kitchen. Thomas kisses his bewilderment away and Miranda has fun parading with the sword and making impressions of the young lieutenant. James stays for the night and the morning is one of the sweetest he remembers from that time.

II. Ten years later, on the Maroon Island. Flint returns to his quarters to find a familiar scene enfolding in front of him. They had all sneaked out of the party early on in the evening. Madi gets to try on some pirate gear (as she had planned), Flint gets to remove his agonizing boots and Silver has the best evening of his life watching his loved ones having fun for once. Later Madi hides a small poetry book in one of the pockets for Flint to find.

New books for the Captain who likes to read

Captain Flint from Black Sails. I like watching him do some ordinary little things soon after some extraordinary deeds. Reference was the scene in 2.03 where he goes through the warship’s bookshelves after masterfully taking his captaincy back. Please, do not repost elsewhere :)

I'm glad I let this brew and grow for such a long time :D
