As much as I Love Captain Archer, he's a Fav, I think it would have been Really Amazing if Captain Hernandez had been captain of the Enterprise

Headcanon/Prompt:
Admiral Cornwell and Captain Erika Hernandez get drunk together. They complain and worry about their on-again-off-again lovers, Gabriel Lorca and Jonathan Archer. They are both worried their best friends have PTSD. They find solace in each other and a bottle of whiskey. Much philosophy, many emotions. Drinks under the stars.
Okay, but honestly if I got to re-write Star Trek: Enterprise here’s things I would do:
Malcolm Reed is gay
His first boyfriend is Chef. They have an amicable break-up
Malcolm/Hayes going from animosity to camaraderie to romance
Shuttlepod one reveal that Mal had a crush on Trip. Trip is straight but flattered
T’Pau & T’Pol are twin sisters who both serve on the Enterprise
They’ve both been though pon farr.
T’Pol isn’t mated but she’s got someone in mind (he appears in an episode, calls her ‘ashayam’ is totally wiling to live on earth or on a ship with her b/c it’s logical)
T’Pau declared kal-if-fee and isn’t looking for anyone else
They wear Starfleet uniforms
Scratch the whole Vulcan/Romulan/Archer saves the day story line
Augmented war was much more recent
At least one person on the crew is xenophobic/homophobic/afraid of augments
Whole first season is the building of the NX-01
Soval is T’Pol & T’Pau’s father
Travis is trans (ftm)
MACOs are there from the launch of the NX
Training the security team
Running joke the second (maybe first?) season of “Does Major Hayes exist?” Yes, yes he does.

Vulcans live in a desert, their sense of smell would be underdeveloped and they probably really like spicy food. T’Pol: This is bland. Trip: *Tries some and starts screaming because it’s so hot.*

The half-Vulcan baby is Cole & T’Pol’s. Phlox saves it. Cole & T’Pol are not together. It’s a little awkward but they co raise her and T’Pol’s betrothed doesn’t mind
Horrifying transporter accident
One of Phlox’s wives has a half-human baby with a member of the NX crew. Phlox is honest to god thrilled
Finale is Admiral Archer giving a commencement speech to Starfleet Academy. “And exploration comes at a great cost, just last week three ships were lost with all hands- yet we must go forward. It may not be the safest path, but the right one rarely is.”
Future Enterprise they meet in the expanse has lots of Denobulan kids.
Malcolm & Hayes are space dads to an adopted troupe of aliens
Phlox is alive and kicking with T’Pol & T’Pau
In “Home” (S4E03) the Enterprise crew takes some time for R&R after the events of the Xindi arc and the finale of the Temporal Cold War.
