there's something that will always be so special to me about Jay's relationships with the replacement ninja post skybound
jay offhandedly mentions that Soto isnt nearly as bad as everyone thinks and everyone stares at him
Jay becoming great friends with Skylor during operation land ho (since this is the first time they've hung out without kai, or really just in general) and they get along great, of course and post skybound he's way more friendly with her and keeps accidentally bringing up inside jokes that she doesn't get and he grieves a close friendship he didnt even knew he had
Just. Jay post skybouns trying to figure out what's real and what's not. Everything to me
Cannot imagine being Captain Soto. Like think abt it pov you are in the golden age of piracy and no one can fucking stop you because you’re better at what you do than literally anyone else on the entire ocean (which is saying something because Ninjago planet has 1 relatively small landmass as its largest landmass and nothing but scattered islands over the entire rest of the planet) and you are feared and revered and everyone knows your name and your crew and then one day you crash into a cliff and die and you are resurrected 200 years later by a literal actual demon who is also the son of god and he wants you to do his minion work and then you don’t and then you go to jail and someone steals your prosthetic so you have to keep supplementing it with increasingly ridiculous objects for a while but after a whew years you’re kind of just chilling because if you left jail where else would you go because a bunch of kids stole your ship and made it into a houseboatplane and every week you go to prison movie night to watch a movie which you still don’t quite understand the logistics/technology of because you’re a fucking pirate from 200 years ago
>> I do not think that would be able to make sound. Or I suppose it could, but not that loudly. The sound comes out of the bell... which is pressed against his leg and would therefore muffle the sound.
Okay, so i got into the public archives again to research about the information on the whole thing with preeminant and who would even give the interviews about all that (to this question the answer is - several rouge ghosts who were kind enough to give an interview, and several dsciples of FSM back in the old days)
So, i kinda ended up falling into a rabit hole, and i found that, back in Capitan Soto's original sailing days, there was a ship named Misfortune's Keep, and there were, in fact, a serpentine with a peg-leg named Clancy and a robot monkey. Werid. Also, the capitan's name was Nadakhan. Well, still is, but he's kinda locked away in a relic called "Teapot of Tyrahnt" ( or was it tyran? Thyran? Tyrahn? Not sure, archive workers told me i need an academic permit to take notes or dowload/film digital copies, and i already forgot the correct spelling :1 )
Also, one of the other Misfortune's Keep's crew was a woman named Delara, who looks a whole lot like Nya Smith looked back in her samurai X and early water ninja days, so, uh.. Ninja (look-alike) sighting?
As for interviewing the ninja, that is a very good idea, since they are in close contact with Master Wu, so they got to have at least second-hand insight on all of that. Now i, or someone else who's interested in aiding, need/-s to figure out how to interview the ninja about it without distracting them during a fight and without overreaching into their civilian lives.

(OOC + P.s.: super relieved and glad to know my plot-goofings are welcome here :3 )
oh yeah I forgot there are still some ghosts in this realm
Destiny's bounty and misfortune's keep are such odd parallels but they also sound like band names and do you think soto and nadakhan were secret lovers so they had matching boat names?? Toxic old man pirate yaoi my beloved
oh nvm he had a wife 😔 also that's WEIRD cuz like wasn't she 15-16 then or something?? creepy
also don't the ninja have Tumblr 👀 we can ask them once i find their usernames real quick!!
Two Ninjago characters that should’ve met yet didn’t. (At least as far as I remember I’m doing a rewatch as of right now.)
Captain Soto and Kalmaar.
I just know that pirate would throw hands with that squid.
Rag tag Anti-hero Ninjago Group anyone?
I just had a bit of a random idea. What if some of the Ninjago villains formed a group like Suicide Squad/Thunderbolts? That would be really fun (and definitely isn't inspired by me watching both of those movies for the first time last night). Anyways, the team.
Ultra Violet: The Wildcard (Harley Quinn-esque minus the toxic love). I would think she would just do it for the thrill of the game. We've seen Vi (I think the others would call her Vi despite it pissing her off) be open to changing sides (at threat to herself). She's also just a fun character... I want to see what I can do with her.
FugiDove: The Unknown (Oh, so this is where they put the lovey DOVEY part of Harley). Love bird over here would probably try and justify himself as a villain, but he folds the second Blue Jay threatens him by saying he won't fight FugiDove anymore. Will probably be bait most of the time. Idk, I am going to give him more character, but the first few missions will probably have him as bait or distraction... and then he has memetic or memory powers or something w/ angst I mean what? Who said that?
Miss Demeanor: The Arsonist (Main villain wannabe becomes anti-hero) (Will also probably be referred to as "Newbie" by the rest of the gang). Idk. I haven't thought too much about it. I just want her to burn things and have fun while being a hero. She deserves it.
Killow: The Bull (Imagine Sandy from Lego Monkie Kid but purely muscle unless I give him more stuff later). I would like to imagine he probably would be happy to turn over a new leaf (and get a couple years off his prison sentence while he's at it). I want to give the fact he reformed while in prison a bit more weight. He's learned to control his temper, but if you piss him off you're dead. Also, I want to give him a little extra, probably to do with the fact he's a bigfig instead of the typical minifig.
Flintlocke: The Bullseye (Deadshot stand in I guess). Idk how he would've escaped from where ever he was trapped, but I feel like he would have very vague memories/dejavu of Skybound like the Ninja do. Would probably free Dogshanks, Clancee, and the others from their respective realms, but give the finger to Nadakhan. Probably would join just to prevent past events from happening again. I imagine most of the Sky Pirates would just try to lie low, especially if Skybound became public knowledge or something.
Ronin: The Rogue (I think he's like one of the original side villains/antagonists). Joins to shave years off his sentence. Mostly in it for himself. Forms a few bonds and becomes more of a team player as it goes on. Good friends with Nya and the two probably go to the bar every few months. Strained relationship with the rest of the Ninja (Jay very slightly less because of very vague memories of Skybound).
Honorable mentions:
Captain Soto - Already part of the Ninja Replacements (/hj) and probably would rather not deal with that stuff (still a petty thief though)
Nadakhan - NO GOD PLEASE NO WE'RE NOT OPENING THAT CAN OF SNAKES AGAIN!!!
Any of the other members of Misfortune's Keep - Like I said, would probably lay low. They'd stick together, but do their own things. Who knows though. They may join in the fun a few times.
The Mechanic - Eh, I was tempted but I feel like he's either dead or still a villain. He's a "big league" villain now iirc.
Thanks for reading my random idea!!!!
Soto and Wyldfyre would not get along at first if they ever met, but I think he’d grow to like her spunk and hotheadedness. He’d teach her how to PROPERLY pilot the Bounty!
