Captain Winter walked briskly into the training room, ignoring the two armed guards that followed behind him. He had just woken up out of cryo and Hydra wanted to test him, run him through the usual gammon to make sure he was ready for his next mission. The room was sparse, set up with a lightly padded concrete floor and not much else. Looking around briefly to orient himself the Captain waited until he was given orders.
Winter had been awake for a week now, programming shiny and new, freshly wiped and ready to be sent out. Sharpened blade to humanity’s dulled skin, bright and dangerous. He followed behind two other HYDRA operatives, dressed in his mision gear, but without his mask. They stopped in front of two large s teel doors, made to resist nearly anything, least of all bullets and punches from a metal arm. “Kill what lies on the other side,” they directed, and the Soldier wasn’t aware that this was a test on his resolve, a test for both him and his counter part, his other half, his Captain.
Wasn’t aware this test was because HYDRA knew their Soldier’s loyalty ran deeper for the Captain than for them.
When the doors opened, he was ready ti take out whatever lay beyond them, walked in and took in the entire room, stare a thousand miles away, noticing every detail. Muscles already tensed, prepared to spring, to dodge, to tear flesh from bone. It all fled from him as he took sight of his opponent. His muscles relaxed, the fight leaving him swiftly as it came, familiarity rushing over him like a flood. He couldn’t harm this man. Wouldn’t. It went against his entire being, down to the very marrow of his bones, though he could not tell you why.
