Kiss #25 - Wet kisses after finding refuge from the rain. Summary: they stood there, under the awning, drenched with rain, laughing. dean dropped his head down onto cas’ shoulder, and cas’ hand found it’s way to dean’s chest, settling over dean’s heart. their lips found each other a moment later in a rush of a kiss, but it didn’t last long as drips of rain water clung to their mouths. dean laughed again, and cas leaned forward to kiss the water droplets off of dean’s face. cas cast his eyes up to the sky through the windshield of the pickup, tracing the movement as the first drops of water left tracks down the glass. cas furrowed his brows, tightening his hands on the steering wheel as the raindrops picked up speed.
dean’s hand was suddenly on cas’ thigh, squeezing softly. “it’s okay, you know that, right?” dean murmured.
cas shook his head, refusing to look over at his husband in the rare chance there was a sliver of disappointment lingering in the green of his eyes. “no, it’s not. it’s your birthday surprise. it has to be perfect.”
“cas,” dean breathed out, soft and quiet against the patter of the rain against the truck.
shaking his head again, cas focused on the road signs, knowing their exit was coming up. if he could just get there fast enough, maybe they could beat the storm and at least get to start a game.
it only took a few more minutes for them to pull into the parking lot. the empty parking lot. cas watched as the neon sign above the entrance to the mini-golf course flickered from ‘open’ to ‘closed’, and the air left cas’ lungs like a punch to the gut.
a crack of lightning tore across the sky, a loud crash of thunder following a moment later. it only took a few seconds for the rain to catch up to them, sheets of water pounding down against the roof of the pickup.
cas’ shoulders dropped and he finally flickered his gaze over to dean. “i’m sorry, dean,” he whispered, his voice cracking on dean’s name.
“you stupid angel,” dean muttered with fond exasperation as he snagged cas’ tie and pulled him in slow until their mouths were brushing against each other. “i have never loved you more than i do right now,” dean murmured against cas’ lips.
