Peggy wrings her hands together, pacing back and forth in the small room Tony had set her up in. The last time she had been this nervous had been-- well she wasn’t sure if she had ever felt quite this nervous before. She hoped that this wouldn’t all be for nothing. When Tony had come to her with the idea, it had been one of her more lucid days. She had been reluctant at first. Yet again, she knew she was at the end of her life. If this didn’t work, then really, what harm was there? So, she’d agreed. 

It took a few weeks after that for the pair to circle back. Tony wanted to make sure everything was just right. She could see the light in his eyes. It reminded him way too much of his father. Though, that was a thought she kept to herself.

Admittedly, Peggy had been surprised when it worked - when it really worked. She kept expecting it to reverse, and turn her back into a frail, old woman. But, it didn’t. The only logical thing to do now was to fake her own death. That way, no one would know. It would far too suspicious for someone that looked exactly like a young version of her to appear so quickly. No, she had to stay in hiding. It absolutely killed her to keep this from Steve. At least for now. It was the only way to truly make sure their plan worked. It had to be believable. 

It had only been a couple weeks since the funeral. She hadn’t wanted to spring herself on Steve so quickly. It would likely give him a heart attack - super soldier or not. Tony had tried to urge her to stay behind, to give it a little more time. But, this was Steve. Sure, she had seen him in her old age. But, she had forgotten he was there so many times. She had insisted - and when Peggy set her mind to something, there was no changing it. So, a bit reluctantly, Tony agreed to pull Steve in, and had asked the blonde to meet him here - where Peggy was currently waiting for him.
