Capital G by Nine Inch Nails
What are your favorite lyrics?
Well surprisingly I can answer this without too much difficulty as i listened to it last night before bed. The song is called Capital G by Nine inch Nails. It's off the album Year Zero.
Well, I used to stand for something, But forgot what that could be,There's a lot of me inside you, Maybe you're afraid to see (stand for something)
Well, I used to stand for something, Now I'm on my hands and knees, Turning in my god for this one, And he signs his name with a capital G
So the main reason I like that song is because of the line at the end of the song. He begins to repeat "stand for something". So he basically sings "maybe you're afraid to stand for something". When i realized I thought it was so clever and realized the lyrics are basically true (well for me they are).
A little side not about Year zero... that album is really good. And I'm going to quote Wikipedia for a minute just to tell you why it's so good/ why I really like the album.
The album criticizes the American government's policies, and "could be about the end of the world".[8] Reznor specifically cited what he labeled as the "erosion of freedoms" and "the way that we treat the rest of the world and our own citizens".[6] Reznor had previously called the results of the 2004 US election "one step closer to the end of the world."[28]
I apologize about going above and beyond to answer the question (I'm not actually sorry. The meaning and reason I like the album so much can't be fully understood until you know what the actual album is about).
