Loopy (the 3DS capture card maker) has recently released a beta version of their capture software that finally enables 3D capture for their recent N3DSXL capture cards, so naturally I had to test and confirm that yes, it can run through a VR headset via Virtual Desktop!

It's pretty incredible looking, the one downside is the low resolution but you could switch to bilinear filters instead to mitigate the blockiness The 3D effect also gets way more intense due to the bigger screen size, and is where the slider really comes in handy.

Behold! The Video Byte II

This is a crude video frame capture device from 1989 for the Commodore 64.

It plugs into the user port, and allows you to feed in NTSC composite video to be digitized in 2-bit grayscale. After that, you can apply the C64's 4-bit color pallet to the color.

Remember how I said it takes about 4 seconds to capture? If you can't feed it a still image, the results are going to be all garbled, so you need either a still image on the screen from a VCR. That, or you have some way to freeze a signal using a piece of specialized piece of broadcast kit. However, the manufacturers expected you to use this entirely differently: treating it almost like a digital camera. You were intended to connect this to a video camera, and set up a still scene, then use your Video Byte II to capture that scene.

After that, you can tweak the color pallet, shift the capture frame in software, and adjust the lighting. When you're done, you can print it out, or save it as a Koala Paint compatible image for further editing (other formats were supposedly in the works)

alright i need a capture card that i can use for wii and xbox 360 anyone got recommendations thats fairly cheap?

i learned that you can use gamecube games on certain wiis and my wii is like that and shadow the hedgehog game is on gamecube therefore i need a capture card

I really hope someone could tell me, what EXACT items I need to record on nintendo switch, I know you need like a capture card and a cable but I would love if someone could just point and tell me "get these specifically"

Sorry for not posting lately, got caught up in other things....BUT I HAVE GREAT NEWS. I finally bought my 1st capture card, so I can finally record some games on actual hardware. Also, I found and purchased a SNES Classic at a yard sale yesterday for $30! (They stopped making them in 2019) The thing was like new and came with all the accessories, I took the liberty of modding it and adding my own games to it as well.

good news everyone! I got a new monitor specifically because I wanted one that's color accurate for the purposes of digitizing SD footage. I spent this morning playing with it and testing it out and I am very pleased.

so, my personal approach to digitizing analog footage is I try to capture how it looks on my CRT TV as closely as possible, because to me that's how the games look their best. I love how those TVs capture light and darkness and colors. And since I got this hauppauge TV tuner, I feel like I'm finally able to capture something that looks really close.

I modified the procamp settings on this card so the brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation are all tweaked to get it as close as possible visually. I think it looks really good. Now for truly lossless capture I would capture the raw .avi in virtualdub, but for sharing on most platforms I feel like encoding it onto an HD canvas makes the most sense. So this is the interlaced and recorded in obs. I preserved the 720 pixel width of the footage and stretched it horizontally to make it the 4x3 aspect ratio.

anyway, here is the super smash bros melee opening, digitized by me in such a manner as to make it look as close as possible to how it looks on my big ancient radiation box tv. Enjoy!
