The Sunken Hum Broadcast 35- Ciara Mucks Out the Shed for Folly the Horse - 4 February 2013

The other week, Ciara and I were talking about sounds and she said her favourite sound of the day is when she goes out to the stables to feed Folly, her mare. As Ciara is mucking out the shed and putting in fresh straw, the very big Folly clomps up and down the stable and then when the feed is served, Folly settles down to a quiet munching.

The Sunken Hum Broadcast 16 - A Gaggle of Locals at the Local - 16 January 2016

"The Local" ie "One's Closest Irish Pub." My closest pub is a minute and a half drive away - an extension of my driveway for all practical purposes since I only pass six other houses between here and there. It is an unusual little spot and one I might only go to once a month or so. Generally on a weeknight it's always the same eight fellas and Bridie behind the bar. The main room is quite small but there's three tvs in it and generally the channel of choice is "Ireland West Music Television" which plays the current Country & Irish hits - fairly mesmerizing stuff for all the wrong reasons.

The accents you can hear are pure South Leitrim .

The Sunken Hum Broadcast 6 - Experimental Percussion Gig in the Kitchen Goods Aisle - 6 January 2013

I had accompanied my mom to the land of big shops - aka the strip mall. While looking at books in one of those stores that sells just about everything, I could hear sounds coming from the next aisle over that reminded me of percussion patterns I'd heard experimental drummers hit at performances. I went around to find a lady who worked there cleaning up the merchandise around the cookie sheets and baking trays. Loud clatters mixed perfectly with gentle "tink tink tinks." I tried to look as inconspicuous as possible as I took this recording while standing a little down the aisle though I got the feeling that if I stood there much longer security would start sniffing around.
